because Canadian is cheaper then US.

luxury just don't sell in Canada.

US has Cali, miami, Canada has ?
where rich people lives
US has NYC, Canada has Tornoto
the big city, sorta tie.
US has texas, Canada has every city other then Tornoto, Vancouver, and Montreal.
where there's plenty of land, and plenty of poor working joe.

so...would you waste money on some place like Canada whose people are not going to afford these luxury?

There is plenty of money in Canada....we just don't like to show the "Bling, Bling" like some people down south.

he needs to get his head out of his ***....

what he said was ignorant and made NO sense

But my question still stands... why do they not offer this to us?? but they do south of the boarder? I should email Mazda's Canadian head office

i think its just a case of options, mazda just offers more possibilities to the americans, most likely because they will buy a higher percentage of The RX-8 manufactured. Also, if it really matters you could try asking the dealership to swap interiors with another car on the lot.....I used to work at honda and we've done it before.......Leather in a base civic??? kinda weird though..........

Keep in mind that we don't get the stripped down model hewre either. All our RX8's (including the AT) come with the large brakes.

was it here in TO? which dealership did you work at? When they do the swap is it a complete swap? (steering wheel, side panels if any) ... or was it just the seats

it was just the seats, i would imagine that they would charge a premium for it....but its worth asking just to see if they can do it.

if the car you saw just had the red seats and not the door panels, that sounds like an aftermarket job or seat swap.

edit:...not to self, learn to type

The US usually gets about 10 times more of all cars than Canada gets and that why they provided limited choices so its more efficient for Mazda and they enjoy the benefits of economies of scale. But let me tell you, I was in Virginia last summer and saw an RX-8 for sale all decked of for US$38K. So in short, we are getting the better deals, the fastest production RX-8's and we can drive circles around our neighbours to the south.

As for man-z-duck, go **** a duck!

I agree that we get a much better deal, particularly on the GT, pretty high trim level for the price even in comparison to other sports cars here. Cars are all priced to what the market will bare and optioned how people want them. I remember years ago my wifes relatives coming from the Netherlands and seeing my Audi 90 that I use as my winter car now and they went ga ga over it. They had some sort of Mr. Money Bags impression because the car was horrendously expensive there. Then I went there and saw their pathetic renditions of my same car with steel wheels, unpainted cheap plastic lowers, lower grade door trim, hand crank windows and tiny engines, you almost wouldn't recognize it as the same car. They were paying a lot more for a lot less and the factory was only a few hours drive away from them.

I agree, the black 8 should have had black/red or just black seats. The black and tan thing bugged me for some reason, just a personal thing. Just like my wifes first comment on my red/back seats that called into question something about, ah well maybe I can't say that here . . . Each to their own, I like my seats :-) I wish they had the Euro spoiler for the 8 here though, that's nice . . .

I agree... offering the black/tan on black isnt as good as the red/black on black. Don't get me wrong, I think the black/tan looks very nice but only when on TI Gray.. thats a hot combo and its actually what I'm aiming at getting

If Mazda had to be stingy on our options I think offering the black/red on black instead of black/tan on black would have been much much better.. probably would have sold more too.

I was talking about the civic that we did when i worked at honda. In the case of an RX-8 i think more work would be needed.... door panels and steering wheel.

I agree as well, if the interior was all black, i may have gotten it instead.

The red and black interior was one of the reasons that I bought a V red RX8. I didn't care for the Tan/black in the Titanium car. I would have seriously considered a blue car if it came with a blue/black interior.

yeah.. the black and red is quite nice (hence the reason for this thread).. but it pisses me off that it only comes with the red exterior.... nothing against V-Reds, but I just cant stomach the red exterior on the 8.... I need a dark colour like Ti or blk.

I used to not like winning blue, but it grew on me alot... quite a bit actually; still wouldn't buy it under normal circumstances... but I think it looks really nice. Smart move on Mazda to keep the WBlue's interior straight black.... I don't think an exterior colour/black combo would work too well; same goes for the yellow.

In the end of the day.... I really want a black car :D... always have... but everytime I had my heart set on buying a car something would always come up that would end up diverting me from black... and now in this case with the 8... its the colour config of the interior... gaaaaawdDAMN

I think a blue/black interior would look pretty cool, but a little darker blue than the outside of the car, and leave the steering wheel all black
