Thanks for the clarification! I will definitely be there if I'm in town on the 1st.

Sounds like it will be a blast! I'm assuming helmets required? Anything else?

Should be fun, there will be CASC races all weekend. Something to watch before and after the lapping.

Helmets are not required. You can bring them along if you feel like it, but they're not mandatory.

92tsiawd,
I think you skimmed too fast! The regestration updates were posted by David Hilton. Gotta register at the registration chalet before 10:30am. There's only 1 Registration chalet so you can't miss it!

See everyone there.

Lates,
Sorry. Not sure how it works. I tried reading the attachment but didn't get a real idea of what it was about so I didn't say I was interested.

VIVA Portugal!!!

I usually do Mosport once a year (Jun w BMW CCA/Trillium) and love the track at speed. It sounds like this event you follow a pace car around. Am I reading it right?

Yes, that's right, you follow the pace car. He sets the pace according to the group we get. If you're used to going around the track at full speed, then I can see why you wouldn't want to come out. But there are alot of people who think they can manage a track like this, and then find out it's totally different...
Alot of 2nd gen RX-7's found that out the first time we did this. So now they know what to expect and they have alot more respect for it.

And yes, I understand the game is on Sat. Damn Pork Chops! You'll have time to catch the game. This is only a lunch hour lap session. Unless of course you live far from the track...
Besides, you know Portugal isn't going any further. They're going to be playing with 9 guys and half the team has yellow cards!! LOL!!! That game was crazy! The ref lost control really fast!

Besides, we all know Brazil is going to win... so come out for a free lap session... :D

Are passengers allowed? Is there an age restriction to the passenger, if allowed?

Lates,
Georgetown is far, then you got the pre-party and hopefully the after-party.

I agree that you might as well give Brazil the cup, unless we can get Figo to headbutt Ronaldo and Ronaldino out of the game.

Portugal WILL DEFEAT ENGLAND again...I think

You can have your RX-8 fully loaded! It won't matter. The pace car tries to keep the group as tight as possible. The minute he can't see the last car he slows the pace down so everyone can tighten up again.

9291150,
Yes, I agree, Georgetown is far. Especially if you've already got a group set to watch the cup. It will take a miracle for Portugal to win against England, but there's always hope!
I take it you're watching the game in HD?? Luckily for me I've been enjoying every match in HD. The difference is staggering! I don't watch any other channels except the HD channels.

I'm trying to find a way to make it out to this event. I really, really want to take the 8 around the track. I have to go up north this weekend, so I'm trying to convince the better half that we can make a little stop in Barrie. The problem is that the car is going to be loaded with a bunch of stuff (our bags, and gifts for the family up north) and I'm not sure how to deal with this. Shouid I just leave it in the car and hope for the best? Or is there somewhere at the track that I can stow away our stuff while on the track? Is anyone going up in a car that they won't be tracking (maybe I could leave it in there)? Any suggestions?

Thanks!
BTW, anyone leaving from T.O. Saturday morning? If so where and what time?

Exactly how much stuff are you carrying?? If it's in the trunk it won't matter... again, this is just a feel for the track. It's not ***** to the wall racing. We'll be picking up speed and there will be a few g's around corners, but nothing that would warrant flailing objects within the car.
You'll be fine...

Hopefully a few T.O. people will be able to make it out this weekend. I however don't live near enough to T.O. or I would definately hook up with you...
Any volunteers?!?!

Just remember, you have to be at the track and regestered at the regestration chalet before 10:30am!

If you can print the tickets out before you get to the track even better. www.casc.on.ca
The upper right hand red box saying "complmentary tickets". Just follow the instructions.

Hope to see you there!

I am a big IDIOT!!!!! I don't know why, but I was thinking Barrie instead of Bowmanville. I'm actually going to Sudbury this long weekend (400Kms north of Toronto, Hwy 400 to Hwy69). So this is why I was thinking stop off in Barrie, which is on the way, and then continue the trek northbound for another few hours. Being that Mosport is 100Kms east, this will be a 200km diversion (there and back). Having said this, it will be a very tough sell with my better half, who's being pressured to get to Sudbury by early afternoon.

Sorry to say but it's not looking good for me. Although there's still a chance, it's a slim one. Maybe I can catch her in a good mood tomorrow!

Anyway, letting the flaming begin at how stupid I am, I deserve this one!

Bruce County's coming up, and I'm looking forward to that one. Any local mini-meets coming up in and around the GTA?

Thanks guys, and if I don't see you, have a great weekend at the track!!

That's cool Galaxy_8. I know family comes first. I was wondering when you were saying Barrie... lol

GoesLikeStink,
Since it's impossible to get anything stickied on this forum, I've been bumping that thread every once and awhile.
I'll bump it again. It shouldn't be that far down on the list.
Event is in July. Mid July. The weekend after Molson Grand Prix.

Hope to see a few RX-8's show up for tomorrow... At least I know MyRxBad will show...

I have no idea what happened to either England or Brazil! It was some cosmic incident 2 teams who were scheduled to move on towards the semi did not!
Brazil was not playing the way they were up to this point. I have no idea what happened. It's almost as if they stopped caring. The French walked all over them. It's shame of course because nobody suspected Brazil to lose...
Oh well... wait for another 4 years... I guess everyone's favorite now is Italy...

Sat. went very well. You guys missed out on alot of fun. Pace car brought the speed up considerably! Alot of the guys got to know the track for the first time. Only 1 incedent occured and that was KrazyKoncepts who spun on corner 3. Nothing was broken other than his pride and a small indent on his front bumper. It could have been much worse. But luckily everything carried on as is...

Can't wait for the next one...

Next major meet is the Bruce County meet...

How fast were you guys going in order to spin?

BTW, what about Portugal? From the number of flags I'm seeing flying around, I would think they are also a favourite.

Portugal is ranked 7th in the world by fifa, higher than any of the 4 remaining teams. They have not lost a game since their final in Euro '04 against Greece. But, they get little respect 'cause they have yet to win the big prize. My money was on Brazil...no idea what happened there. Now, I'm betting PORTUGAL vs. Germany in the final...and yeah, being born in Lisbon creates a huge bias.

Anyhoo, I'm in for the next Mosport date fer sure!

RX8_Jet,

It was quick enough for 1 of the 2nd gen's to lose his rear end.... but that might have also had to do with the used tires he had on the car. Regardless, no real damage was done and he continued...

As for Portugal vs. Germany, they've been surprising everyone so far. At this point there really isn't any point from my perspective, but I know it'll be an interesting game to say the least!
Of all the teams left, Italy has the most experience when it comes to finals (I think... I'm not exactly sure... )

As long as France doesn't win, I'm alright... :D
