Bad Scratch - Good repair place in Toronto?
Sadly, I put a 5 inch gash in the lower metal panel beneath the door right by the wheelwell. Managed to do that stupid task by scraping a curb trying to make a sharp turn in a parking garage. It's not highly visible, but I know it's there and I dont' want it to start rusting.
The scratch has dented some of the metal and will need to be repaired and primed/painted. Im guessing it will cost around $1000.00
Anyone know of any places in Toronto that do reliable body work?
I am sure the dealership would do it for a hefty price.
Thanks

Try some touch up paint and clear coat it.

The problem is that it has also dented some of the metal about 1/4 inch in - so just painting it will not help.
It's not so much the visibility, it's just that hateful feeling that the car has a bad scratch and that the metal will rust.

well it's your call. Usually, dent doctor can pull out small dents. Then you can touch it up yourself. Thing is, if you get it done at a body shop. They'll have to match the paint by painting the entire side of the car. Not worth it imo. I'd rather keep the car all original.

Velocity up by Hwy 7 and McCowan does a good job, and at a good price as well. I hope it won't cost you $1k though.

I did the same thing to mine scarping the bottom of the skirt. it is about 12 inches and dent. I got quote from a shop on Markham and 16 and they quote me about 300. I don't think you need 1K for that job. He even can fix some of other hairline scratch.

Drive like you stole it!
I "discovered" a bad scratch on my car just below the left yellow strip at the front wheel arch when I came out of a Canadian Tire (even though I had parked miles away from the door!!).
About 1" by 1" but down to the metal, paint is completely gone. No dent, just no paint
Anyone any suggestions for a place to get this fixed. If it was smaller and not down to the metal I'd touch it up myself, but this needs a pro. Any idea also how much this might cost to get fixed?
Thanks for any ideas.

See if they have a "Paint Melt" franchise in your area. I just had some repair work to my roof.
They did not paint the whole roof, but only the damaged area, and then clear coated the entire roof.
I cannot see where they painted.

Thanks for the suggestion but I can't find any "Paint Melt" anywhere...tried google with "paint melt", "paint melt franchise", "paint melt winnipeg" but couldn't find anything.
Do you have any other details?
Thanks.

Oopsie on my part. The place was called "Color melt", not paint melt.
My bad.
Color melt, 1500 Regent Ave, Winnipeg.
A couple of friends who are of the fix up and old car type loked at the car. All I told them was the roof was touched up, and could they "see" it?
They were pointing to different spots on the roof......."ahhh here it is, I can spot it a mile away, no wait it's here!, nope is it there?"
I am happy.

wow...velocity are awesome!!
Wow....just got the car back from Velocity Auto Body and I have to say I'm really really impressed.
Dropped the car in to them on tuesday. First thing they said was "it's a 2 day job, you don't want to rush these things" so already I was feeling good about them.
So apart from the 1" by 1" scratch all the way to the metal I had on the left fender I also had 2 similar ones on the front bumper all the way to the black plastic, not that noticeable but I'm a perfectionist. So the work involved the removal, sanding, and respray of the front bumper. And also the sanding and respray of the front left fender.
It looks as good as new, the paint is a perfect match in any light. They put 4 layers of clear coat on it....I cannot say enough good things about Velocity, and their people.
I'll absolutely be going back there next time, though I hope there won't be a next time
Oh yeah the price was unreal too, really excellent value from what I've seen posted on here before, and they honour the 10% coupon on their site without a problem.
I'm delighted.

Good to know about this fine shop. Where are they?
I've had great service from Paul's Auto Body on Merton just west of Mt. Pleasant...a little pricey...but he's a truly great guy. He gives a **** about quality and will tell you straight about how bad the body shop industry has become in Toronto. Especially in Scarberia.

I know that this is a 5 year old thread but I was told by 2 other people to go check them out for some work that I need and I just called up and talked to Barry. Sounds like a great guy and this thread has made me feel a lot better about going to them - especially since people were recommending him 5 years ago. I'll post more later on after I go there.

Unfortunately I did not end up heading up (crazy work schedule). I'm hoping to go Next Friday. If anyone else has similar experience with wheel well rust please let us know!

I have the same issue, getting mnie repaired at ChipMaster Markham. They did my door and did a VERY nice job.
I've been quoted $500 for rear wheel well repair (sanding the panel, primer 3x, several coats of quality paint along with clearcoat. Quote includes patching the metal if need be.
Chipmaster also has a good thread available on Redflagdeals.com forum, these guys are VERY good.
