Autocross Vancouver (Boundary Bay) Oct31st!

Ok, once again guys here's the info:
http://www.ubcscc.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=1255

Here is the schedule for the day:

Gates open at 7 am
Tech starts at 7:30 am
Tech closes 8:30 am
Driver's meeting at 9 am
1st car out: Approx 9:20am

It'll be a good idea to be there between 7:30 and 8:30 so that you have time to tech your car, register and walk the course. The gates are closed after 8:30, so if you arrive late there is a chance you won't get to drive.

If the cost hasn't changed, it should be $20 for the event and $20 for membership (if you already have a membership, don't worry about this cost).

This is the 2nd of the UBC sportscar club "Slush Series". I think there are a total of 7 or 6 left until next feb. It's every other or other other sunday at boundary bay. They count best 5 times or something out of the total but you don't have to be competitive to come! Just come for fun!!!

I really hope to see more 8s there, there would be me in a titianium grey, and 2 other 8s (sunlight silver and black).

Hey Titus - thanks very much for this...i've been looking for some AutoX/race club activity in Van. I took a race course at Sears Point a few years ago then never did much after, but now that i have an 8 really want to try it out.

Anyway, I have kind of a hectic fall with school/work/kid but have joined the club anyway and will prolly see you out there at some point soon! Driving a Ti 8 - bone stock.

Looks like a good community - am eager to get involved! Thanks again.

I've autocrossed with in on and off. But since I'm a great old veteran of 3 events, I usually left it on for the first 2 runs. The last few times I left it off, I ran SLIGHTLY faster but I spun out a few times (see my weedwacker thread). With in on, I cannot lose control of the car, though I can feel it slow down as I hear the DSC brake one wheel at a time in corners to control my skid. With experience, this is bad for your time but good if you're a new comer and don't wanna lose even MORE time spun out and starting over!

LOL great to hear more ppl getting involved!!!
but yes they have one about every other sunday so come on out~ bring the kids too~ =)
I wish there was more easily accessible race course in vancouver..... you'd always have to sign up with a club to run Mission and you'd have to get some sort of licence or a roll cage too =(
But yes, keep posted on that www.ubcscc.com website! I think they might come up with night/day TSD rallies!!!

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll have to get used to a rwd car again before I turn the DSC off during a race. My last car was AWD, and the few prior to that were FWD. I haven't driven a RWD car since the early 80's.

As for Mission Raceway, I'm not sure if you're referring to the road circuit, or the drag strip. To race on the drag strip, you don't need anything. Just show up at the Friday night Street Legals (over for this year) and race. It's cheap, and you don't need a helmet unless you're faster than a certain speed (12 seconds?).
