auto-leveling headlight malfuction

Here's something i'm not toooo overly concerned about, but since my scheduled maintenance is due this week, I might as well have this looked at.

I was looking at my dials one day and noticed the orange headlight indicator. Wasn't sure if that was something that was always there or not like the little green indicator... so I referred to the manual. Turns out it's the auto-leveling headlight malfunction. i don't think the wait distribution in my car changes enough to require releveling every time the car starts... but might as well take care of it while it's still under warranty.

I wonder if my car is cross-eyed at the moment?? Does anybody know if the lights readjust at every start, even if it's unnecessary?

I'm taking it to Avante in Richmond Hill since I'm only a couple of minutes from that place... didn't get my car there though, anybody think I should go elsewhere? The facilities look nice, so they gotta be good right??? hope i'm not judging this book by its cover.

I park in a garage and notice mine adjusting each time I turn them on.

Yeah, not sure how much movement is involved... maybe I'm just imaging this, but I'm pretty sure I heard some clicking sounds like the motor was jammed... but maybe it's all in my head after I saw the error light :p

You can hear the motors after every shutdown if you are in a relatively quiet area.

Also point your car at a wall at night and see if the "Z pattern" looks normal. I would still get it checked out though.

CrackerJax - Avante Toronto is where I bought my car, but I plan to service at the Richmond Hill branch. Their serivce is good, no worries. Message Neo, he knows the service guys there. My sale guy moved from there to toronto and now back to RH, go fig, but his name is Frank Metallo, you can talk to him too and mention my name. I hope that helps.

Well... I hope I didn't **** anybody off there when I took my deposit back

now that I have my car, I hate visiting dealerships.

I think mine are working OK, but I just had a concern. When I look at the lights head on, or reflected on a wall or garage door, they look straight, but when driving at night in very dark areas, it looks liks the light is higher on one side (I think the passenger side if I recall correctly). Is this that "Z pattern" mentioned above? Or shoule I have them looked at by my dealer?

I think the beams are excellent. I never heard any motor or nor have I noticed them self adjusting. They seem great. No indicator light comes on either. They seem to shine the same slight Z Pattern all the time. Quite frankly I don't think my move ever!

Hey CrackerJax how's it going?

I don't want to hijack your thread, but I have a question related to lights. I was review my lights since you mentioned the problems you're having. I never noticed this until last night, and perhaps it's normal.

When any of you turn on your night lights, does the side markers go on as well and stay on? I know it sounds like a silly question, but if you could indulge me.

As for the light leveling, it will activate when there is well, more weight in the car, so grab a couple of dudes and stack 'em in and see what happens. I never heard the motor for the light personally, but then again I listen to my CD's with the volume pretty high up.
