Pros,
You don't need to know all the gruesum details. Just the facts.

The dealer was generous enough to take my current lease off my hands so I can jump into the Miata sooner. And I got a pretty good discount on the car to boot.

TurboEight,
I got the PRHT because I need to drive this car in the winter. I hate soft tops. I would never consider a convertible if it didn't come with a hardtop.
I don't think it classifies as fluff since it does offer better protection from both the elements, and from stupid people.

I just finished getting the HID kit installed (thanks to McGuyver from the 3 forum). The driver side was PITA to install. But at least now I have proper lighting!
The kit works alot better in the projector housing of the Miata than it did in the 3.

The next thing I'm going to do is order the LED's for the parking light and the rear tailights. Possibly change out the interior lighting too.

The car is fantastic!! It's a smaller scale version of the FD!

Jesus, guy bought the car last night, and already the modding began, truly broke its virginity neo.

the only issue i had with is when driving it was, the shifter way to stiff, maybe cause it was brand new, and it also revs quicker, like its more responsive, a slight tap, and your already in the 40s in first gear.

Yep,
She's very peppy. The e-throttle is very fast. Some might think too fast. I barely step on it and I'm already up 3 gears.

I want the car to sit almost identical like my FD. So there really isn't a difference when I jump between cars. Other than the power that is.
So I have a few things I want to buy to spruce up the interior as well.
But the LED's are a must!
Those parking lights are going to annoy me if I don't get them swapped out. Also the rear tailights. Damn conventional bulbs!!
But the HID kit was by far the biggest suprise! It's alot closer to my Philips kit in the FD. Must be the way the housing is designed or something. Because in the 3 it had alot more yellow than it does now. I'm very happy with it!

Gonna go home this afternoon with the roof down! It's so sunny out there!! Can't resist.

sunny but cold, that e-throttle is ridiculous in that car. Would love to have a MX-5, but in that price range, I still love the Saturn Sky, looks better than the Solutice (I know their both the same platform), wish the sky can in hardtop.

Got back home with the roof down. Amazing what the sun can do when you let it in the car! Didn't feel cold at all. And cruising at 120-130km/h isn't too loud either.
Had the windows up but the roof down. I can still here my MP3 just fine.

I'm really excited about the purchase. Gonna hate to see it get dirty soon.

I don't care how much money you can save getting a domestic vehicle. I would never do that! We've owned 1 domestic vehicle. Never again!!

We've had Mazda's since 89.

So now when people walk by our house, and my bro is over as well, they can see the entire lineup! lol

I'm looking forward to Wed. night. Just hope it's a bit warmer.

The cars presently at home are 2007 CX-7, 2006 Mazda6, 1994 RX-7 and my new 2008 Miata.

My bro and sis-in-law have a 2005 Mazda3 and my bro picked up his 2007 Mazda3 just last year.

Congrats on the new car!! I love the MX5. My wife drives a black 07 and with the top down, you can't beat it for fun. The throttle response in that car is amazing. I only hope that through all of the mods I'm doing to my 8 that I can get it closer to the throttle response of the mx5.

Its tough to leave the Mazda Family. We have the following:

99 Millenia S (My old car, now my brothers)
06 RX8 (Mine)
04 Mazda 3 (my sisters)
06 Mazda 6 (My Uncles)
08 Mazda 3 (My Uncles Wife)
06 Mazda 3 Sport (My Girl Friends)

We were real close to buying the CX7 for my mom, but she opted for the Murano.

You don't want to know how many Mazda's we've had. We're probably on our 15th-16th Mazda.
Since 88 basically.
They keep setting benchmarks.

rx8thunder,
I've noticed when I drove the RX-8 with the Mazdaspeed parts, the throttle response was alot sharper than the stock equivalent.
But I doubt it'll ever be as quick as the Miata's response. I think they do that on purpose. They made the RX-8 for the more "mature" crowd. So to speak.

I hope to have the Miata looking the way I want it too by the end of the year.
Gotta find some time and money. More than anything money! lol

Darkbrew,

Keep those sway bars handy. I'll be needing them sooner rather than later.

Are you referring to MS CAI and CB?

I don't get the need to make the 8 more GT like. If I was running Mazda, the marching order would be to make a 4 seat/4door MX5 (pure sports car) with a rotary engine. Don't get me wrong, I love my 8 now but I'll love it even more after all of the mods

Are you saying that I should put my OEM sways (progress sways on order) on the MX5?

Pros,

Yep, the sway bars are a very popular upgrade for the NC Miata.

rx8thunder,

Having the MS CAI and exhaust improves the throttle response drastically. Rotaries hate having anything in the way between the exhaust ports and the atmosphere. lol

I don't have any drastic plans for the Miata. Just enough to make it my own.
I'm thinking of getting the scuff plates. And the LED's are a definite must!
Apart from that, the only other thing I would want would be the Mazdaspeed Exhaust.

Putting the 8 sway bars on the Miata pracitcally elimnate any sense of role the car has. It's a very popular upgrade amoung NC Miata owners.
Cheaper too.

Neo... LEDS... let me assist you...

RXThunder, yes get the MS Dual-can exhaust NOW!

Then you gotta give me a ride with both of them in.

Also...yes I'm a unique kind of engineer (the non-boring type)

Awesome, hadn't really heard that about CAI and CB systems from others -- was getting them for the cool sound Was banking on AP Power Pulley, mazsport ignition mod, new plugs, Cobb, new clutch and lightweight flywheel for improved throttle response Thanks for the feedback and enjoy your new toy!

Footman, going to pick up exhaust this week but won't be able to install until I'm back from Texas, week after next. Maybe I'll have the Mazsport mid-pipe then too!

Hope to see you guys tonight but I'm under a bit of a crunch...
