Hi Vance,
I'm planning on it - it's about 95% certain right now! However, I'm doing a road trip to the Monterey Historics (Aug 15-17) in either the Miata or the RX-8, and would only be getting back to Calgary the weekend of the 23rd, so it's very unlikely that I'd be able to make it to the event
.
Sorry, it sounds like fun!

I am leaving for New Orleans today so I will not be able to check any of the forums or update the website for a week, sorry.
However, the latest status is still a meet at the Nordic Center just after lunch, a show and shine for a while...(yes, the parking lot is gravel, but it is definitely our only option, we will simply have to be very cautious and drive slowly...but you guys all do that anyways :P) then a mountain cruise down through Highway 40, right in the mountains. There is a stop on the 40 with a "rally road" for those participants that wish to rally, and don't care about their paint and tires...hhmm..like me! can definitely do so...let me tell you right now, it's a blast!!
The whole day should put us back at Calgary between 7PM and 9PM.
I hope that those coming from Calgary AND those staying the night in Calgary will come out for supper as a group, maybe Shanks?
I am already excited about the event, and hope to see you all soon.
Regards,
Vance Law

I am not one of the lucky few who can afford an RX-8, but I will be there with my RX-7. Should we all meet somewhere (in Calgary) before we head to the mountains? A caravan of rotaries would be nice!
site down?
I have tried for the last two days to get to the site:
http://www.angelfire.com/hero/mitm/
But only get a blank page.
Problem?

Never mind, I figured it out. The page is only friendly to Internet Exploder.
As I do not use Microsoft network tools ( they are not safe) it did not work for me.
I use Opera and Mozilla.

What time are we to arrive at the Canmore Nordic Center? I'm sure the answer is sitting in front of my face, but I'm tired and can't seem to find it...
Oh yeah...

Looking forward to a great turn out and a wicked day!!!
See you guys on Saturday.....

Too early!
Sorry, but 10 is kind of early.
I have to drive down from Edmonton first!
Another thought:
Some of us from Edmonton might want to come down highway 22 from Olds, via Cochrane.
How about we meet in Cochrane?
Then on to Canmore via Highway 1A.
It is a nice drive that way..
I calculate 89km from Cochrane to Canmore, and at 100kmh it is less than an hour, so we could meet there at 11:00 and still easily be on time.
Anybody know a good place for coffee/breakfast in Cochrane?
BTW, if anyone else does this route, watch out for the RCMP in Olds!!

Boston Pizza in Cochrane
OK, so let's meet at Boston Pizza, then leave there at 11:15 a.m.
That should give us lots of time to get to Canmore..
Call me if you want to chat:
780-456-1510 ( home office)
780-906-7359 ( cell if I am out)
I will post this info to the Edmonton RX-7 club forum too..

Many Thanks
Thanks for the excellent meet!
I had a blast.
I also learned some new and useful things about my 8:
1) The brakes are excellent. I id d ahigh speed run down an empty highway in a valley, topping out around 230 or so.
Upon running up the hill on the other side of the valley I was still going 215, when I crested the top of the hill, and said "Holy SH&$, COWS!!"
Fortunately I did not hit one, and yes, my brakes work REALLY WELL!!
2) On the way back to Calgary, my gas guage decided to drop from 1/4 to empty in about 40km.
I ran the last 30 clicks at 90kmh, in 6th gear, and made it to the first gas station in Calgary. I ran those with the low fuel warning light on, and the needle pinned at the bottom.
Upon filling it up, I managed to squeeze 52 litres into the tank.
As the manual says I have a 60 litre gas tank, I now feel a bit sheepish. Apparently the RX-8 has 10 litres to go or more when it says "empty"!
