'05 GS vs '04 GT?
'05 GS vs '04 GT?
hi guys, Im finally offically in the market for a RX8, and came across two deals..
one is a guy selling his 2005 GS for 31k with less than 2,300 km ( he's looking for a quick sale)
the other is a 2004 GT for 34k but with ~ 20,000km..
both private sale..
which is a better deal? a newer GS with no traction and all the nice heated leather HID ( would be awesome in Canada's winter) vs a more expensive, more milleage , less warranty GT... or should i just go to a dealer and try to negociate for a new one since they are going to be clearing the 2005s.
( went to a dealer yesterday in Edmonton and they only have a White one for sale loaded with everything including Nav, but asking 46k + Tax ><)

Since when does a GS have leather, heated seats, or HID? Those options are only part of the GT package, as far as I know.
Go for the white one at the dealer, may have a later build date and therefor may have less problems. Mine is Dec04 build date and has a lot of the 'fixes' already done. Besides, nothing like a NEW car - you get to break it in this way. Obviously if the price difference is an issue than my advice is meaningless! There is 2.9% financing on the '8' now too for 60mo.

Don't buy the "demo" at Sundance Mazda....I testdrove it many times and so I would presume did many other:D
Park Mazda in Sherwood Park did a nice deal for me on a new '05
Go for a new GT or would the 10k extra for a new one be too much?

I guess the choice of Gs vs GT depends on what you like regarding the options. I chose the GS for the following reasons:
Heated leather would be nice in winter, but leather sucks in summer, IMO. You get sweaty & sticky, and it gets hot in the sun. Plus you slide around on leather.
Moonroofs always end up leaking. I could care less about the fancy rear-view mirror. And I'd be turning off the traction control anyway if I had it. Mind you, I'm not planning on driving my 8 in the winter.
Chris...

I was going to buy a GS...Figured I would save some bucks as I didn't care about the leather or the sunroof. In the end I got a great deal on a leftover GT.... I'm glad I didn't get the GS after-all. I really like the leather and I actually use the bloody sunroof..... leather seats...you don't slide enough to make a difference. However beware of sunny days, leather seats and shorts
:D
