Yellow Rx8 Discontinued????

From what i have read the colour Yellow currently on the rx8 will be discontinued in the USA and the UK as from july 2004 .

I am led to believe it will also be discontinued her in Australia .

This will make my yellow rarer and more collectible so i am not complaining , i believe there has been around 40 or so yellow RX8 sold throughout Australia , possible halve in AUTOMATIC , so i dont mind having a unique 6speed manual leather pack .

When and if i decide to sell i should get a few extra dollars for having a yellow so KEV and others who gave me a hard time over my colour choice i say . ha ha ha

Does anyone know how much of a premium are people paying for a yellow RX7 ????

A much prefer white then yellow... come on time to get out of the 90's man!

This is an afterthought: Why don't they ditch the Nodic Green?

It's about f'ken time, that all I got to say. (actually I do have more to say :D )

I like the SP20 yellow better. I even think I would like the orange Monaro colour better, or the metalic green.

And if the popularity of the colour is reflected by the length of time that 2nd hand one at Centenary has been sitting around... Yep - your dreamin'. Why do you guys get me to do the dirty work? Who said he listens to me anyway?

Cheers,
Hymee.

I whole heartedly agree.
I want to change my Sunburst Yellow SP20 for a Sunburst Yellow RX-8.
Winning Blue is very much a distant second place choice for me.
I'm afraid the Lightning Yellow doesn't even make 3 or 4th in the current colour range for me.

I've had a long hard look at the one that has been sitting in Centenary for a long time. To be fair, I think the fact that it's a ex-factory demo with all that entails is as much a factor as the yellow.....oh and the stupid price they're asking for it.

About time they ditched the yellow.. It was hard on the eyes and only good for older older men or young youn 17 year olds ***** extentions on both occassions.

Its actually normal colours that have better resell value than different colours looking at red, black and silver. This is with any normal car and sports cars also.

How many colours did the RX7 come out with to begin with?

Even all those custom made colours and re sprayed cars are so hard to sell..

Regards
Phillip

The RX-7 came here in Vintage Red, Montego Blue, Brilliant Black and Sunlight Silver. Silver was ditched for Polar White in around 96. Only the US got Competition Yellow Mica on a limited run. Apparantly Mazda had consistency problems with the quality of the yellow paint so they ditched it. Same story with the MX-5 yellow as well.

Well said , most of the RX8 colours look OK in the showroom STANDING STILL however on the road a lot of them well they blend in just like their owners . (BOOOOORING .)

Most of the time even i cannot tell the RX8S from a distance as their size and shape gets lost amongst larger bigger cars in traffic .

cheers

I agree with choppy, standard colours are much easier to sell especially as the 8 comes in so many colours. I have a yellow Type R and it is by far the best colour (Compared to Red, Black and White) and everyone comments and loves the colour, especially the yellow Recaros, but not too many people would actually buy a yellow car. A shame really...

Heres a pic of the "Two NA beasts"...

L&L, JoeB,

Do you guys find your cars attract bugs? The guys who had CYM RX-7's found that they would sometimes come back to their car to find it completely surrounded by wasps / bees or other types of bugs. Not all the time, just occasionally. Ever had that? Everytime I see a Lightning Yellow RX-8 I think "poor bastard.. "

No, can't say that I have had that problem.

What it does attract though are people who like to stand and walk around the car admiring it's brilliant appearance.

As joe b has said it definetely attracts people of all ages , i have occassionally seen bees and butterflies attracted to the yellow but thats fine by me .

At least i never loose my car in a crowed area i can always spot my yellow ride .

Yellow is a happy cheerfull optimistic free spirited outdoor colour that suits the Goldcoast weather just fine .

If a RX7 ever eventuates , without to many teething problems , and with some REAL POWER AND TORQUE , i will gladly buy one in YELLOW .

Cheers

Lock & Load:

Just curious, and I'm not having a go as I also own a yellow car, but you seem to have to justify the colour yellow quite a bit. Or do you simply love to stir the pot?

Here's some trivia- Just searched this site for "Lock & load" and "Yellow" and it pulled 146 threads... Gotta be a record

PS Yellow definately attracts bee's a little more, especially after it has been washed...Go figure?

Skyline

Action and re-action , and a bit of a stir , however some of these forum members are way to serious and **** so i enjoy taking the **** out of them and get a reaction , hey it keeps my posts up .

I find the forum great if not a bit dry i miss KEV s humour .

I believe insects see the yellow as a massive flower and come for the pollen , and often get sqeeshid .ha ha ha

dont worry

Well said!

I picked yellow for much the same reasons - it looked cheerful, sporty, and unashamedly 'for fun'. (And no Choppy, I didn't buy yellow to act as a ***** extension - cheeky bugger - I have enough trouble finding socks sturdy enough to tuck it in as it is, without having the damn thing dragging on the ground... )

I also live in a bushland area where there are lots of overhanging trees, roadside bushes etc which make some car colours hard to see in spots, expecially in winter. My car, like Joe and Michael's, is certainly easy to see.

Oddly enough my next choice was Titanium - probably the most conservative of the colours - but I decided that my life already had enough serious components. I'd be happy with any of the RX8 colours really, but the yellow just gives me that instant smile whenever I look at it...

Chris

You should not concern yourself with comments from choppy and a few of our other younger asian forum members as we all know most asians suffer from.

: A S D S ( ASIAN SMALL DICK SYMDROME . )j/k

They try and compensate for their SHORT ness by purchasing high powered cars that most cant drive to safe their lives needing to make themselves feel better about their ASDS SYMDROME .

BVD my car always gives me that especiall instant Yellow smile .
