Thumbs up what a reaction!

after only 300km I'm amazed with the reaction my 8 gets. it's not just a head turner. I've had so much positive feed back from other rotary owners and owners of other makes. your driving along and you get waves, honks, and thumbs up. even at the lights it's not a competition, the other car is smiling and just wants to see what the 8 can do. I wish I could oblige and give it full throttle but I'm being really careful running it in

Welcome to "cult-status" world of the Mazda rotary engine. Where you will find friends that you never had. Be the envy of all those that drive something else & in no time, you will know the entire Mazda rotary product range. Something that you would never has envisaged months before.

Despite paying 60% more than your Japanese counterpart for the same car. Your RX-8 easily outshines cars at twice its price & along the strip, expect your RX-8 to be pulling the looks REgardless of the Porsche two cars in front.

Funny you should say that L&L......

When I bought my 8 the salesman told me (with some amusement) that one of the other Dealers in Perth had recently had one of their RX8 stolen from the yard and used in a robbery the next day.

Apparently, they were doing the regular task of shifting vehicles around the lot, swapping cars in and out of the showroom, etc and left the keys in the cars for a few minutes while they attended to something else...... and bingo...

Despite this, I noticed that the Red RX8 on display at the dealership where I bought my car also had the key just dropped into the side pocket of the driver's door. However, it was in the showroom at the time.

Maybe I'll see if I can pick up another car for spares..... :p

There was a bank robbery commited on the goldcoast a few years ago , how the guys got caught was because they forgot to take of their balaclavas as they were driving down the goldcoast highway obviously as high as a kite .

I never leave my keys for my car for 1 second and have a secondary cut out switch so even with the keys you cannot start my car ,he he he

cheers

More like welcome to the "rock-star status" world of RX8 ownership.

I can't get over how you are like celebrity with all the teenage girls screaming and kicking to get a glimpse of you.

Hang on! Maybe not that extreme, but bordering on that!

Here in Germany there are a lot of superb cars, but my 8 still turns heads. I get a lot of impromtu conversations in parking garages, red lights etc. The best so far, was a Porsche GT3 passed me on the Autobahn, slowed down to come back and look at it and gave me the thumbs up. Then he promptly dissappeared :D

BTW I was doing 210 kph and he passed me like it was nothing!

Yeah, I've driven on the autobahn, some of the behaviour amazes me. It's a little disconcerting to be driving along at 160kph minding your own business when an Audi A8 station wagon passes you in the fast lane at 190+ kph. That's not the disconcerting thing -> It's the people inside. Kids screaming and fighting with each other. Mother waving finger in father's face. Father yelling at mother, not looking at the road. All at 190 kph!

I'm going to be back in Germany in November next year (nice and cold), based in Baden-Baden. I suppose I'll have to settle for Volkswagen, BMW and Fords for the whole hire care thing?

Oh well, maybe I'll just park myself at the local Lowenbrau and spend my time eating pig knuckle.

I have to agree on the rock star and teenage girls thing.. and we haven't even taken delivery yet!..

We were stood outside brookvale mazda on Saturday, checking over their demo (2nd day in a row) while waiting for the sales dude to come out. car full of teenage girls pulls up at the lights and starts yelling out" get the red one, red ones go faster"...

My g/f turns to me and goes" you are never going out in this car by yourself!" LOL...

LOL@ Gomez... I care not for the teenage girls... I'm getting a bit old for that now... .. (and I'm sure my g/f wouldn't approve anyway... )

Black is the only choice for us..G/f is a designer, and it fits with our other cars. There is a brilliant blue one around the corner from my place, and it just doesn't work for me... sorry

but I saw a black one at Neutral Bay yesterday and it worked for me big time Mmmmmm
