What not to Do When Checking the Oil
What not to Do When Checking the Oil
Here is a bit of advice from an experience hard learnt,
1. Do not after washing your car decide to turn the car on and let it warm up so you can check the oil level.
2. Then placing the oil cap on the air filter, ACCIDENTLY push into somewhere into the darn engine bay
3. Then seeing the cap embedded in the engine bay below, try to attempt to grab it and in the process cause it to dissappear totally!
4. Which then causes you to panic and attempt to (a) Jack up the car and (2) remove the undertray hoping the you can get access to the darn thing.
5. Did I mentioned I just washed the car? So as you're under the vehicle, you're being constantly bomdarded by water droplets!
6. Finally after an hour of searching and removing screws you find the darn cap and put everything back together.
7. Only to release that you didn't oil to top up the engine to begin off with, $#%#$
Zen!

Thanks for sharing.Look on the bright side - your partner/kids/neighbours probably doubled their knowledge of one-syllable Saxon words.
Never mind. We've all done similar things before...except for Gomez of course.
And if it makes you feel any better there is a great thread on a bloke in the U.S. who decided to stuff a rag into the hole where the cap is supposed to be and drove home. Yep, the rag got sucked into the engine.
I can sympathise - had a similar problem the first time I went to top up the oil- the rubber washer fell of the cap and disappeared, dropped down. I had to get a torch and very delicately managed to pick it up on a long handled screwdriver, but I could see that one wrong move and the thing would have disappeared into the depths of the engine bay.

It looks clear to us that that roof mounted thing is a very suspect light fitting...

.As far as dead Peugeot owners go, they're going to have to bring jackhammers to remove the corpses......the foundations are nearly three feet deep in areas....
