What do these women have to do with Mods to the 8 anyhoo?? Is this some childhood dream to have a plasticized surgized barbie in the passenger seat....
Anyhow from reading earlier posts..I must be a stereo no-hoper cause I like the 8's sound system.....but then I only turn it up to between 12 - 15 to listen....like my eardrums in tact! Maybe I'm a nana???

It's not the lack of volume that gets me, it's the lack of clarity (particularly in bass and midrange). I get ear/head aches at volumes around 7 and above, even though it's nowhere near as loud as I used to listen to stuff in my old car. I think i just need to get used to factory stereos again. Can't wait til they release a foolproof, stealth style solution.

Anyone noticed how nice the heater for the back passengers seems to heat the back of the drivers seat also?? I have my heater set on thermonuclear and wow does it work well!!
- A guage to let you know when you oil is running low OR make the dipstick easier to get at (especially at night).
- Shift the oil filler so you can top up without having to take off the engine cover
And as others have said:
- lining in the glove box
- move the drink holders so you dont whck any botttle in there with your elbow

A gauge panel with:
1) A true coolant temperature gauge
2) A true oil pressure gauge
3) A true oil temperature gauge
4) (maybe) a transmission temp guage
5) (maybe) a oil level indicator
Cup holders that are not located directly under the drivers elbow.
Fold-down rear seatbacks (I know, would not make much more of an opening than already exists with the plastic removable part, but every little bit helps).
An oil dipstick that I can reach without burning my hands.
A center console with a standardized radio/and non-integrated controls setup, instead of a proprietary unit. Utilize a standard double-din radio and display, and remove the integration between the stereo, heater controls, and display panel. Use the display panel for heater/air conditioning/temperature and (YES) a MPG display or otherwise. Use the display on a double-din radio for sound/time/station/video/etc. It should'nt have to cost hundreds of dollars (and quite a bit of heartache and effort) for a conversion kit just to install an aftermarket stereo.

As well as offering similar performance to the Cayman S for significantly less money, the new BMW Z4 M Coupe has a great little feature that would be handy on the RX8.
The redline on its tacho is illuminated and starts at 4K rpm on startup and then gradually extinguishes northwards as oil temp gets to optimum. Good way to take the guess work out of waiting for warmup and a good reminder not to over rev it while cold.
Given the Renesis' dislike of similar treatment, I reckon this would be a sensible instrument upgrade and perhaps save the need for a separate oil temp gauge.

Awesome!
z4 is right up there on my list as a replacement for the rx8.. I test drove the first z4 and I'm pretty sure it didnt have this nifty little feature!

Have to say, although I find the Z4 convertible really contrived styling-wise, the coupe looks great, especially in that bronze colour.
I also think a lot of people will be thinking long and hard before they spend extra on a Cayman S. The Z4 M Coupe looks to be the better value package.
Not an option for me though - need some back seats (even 911 sized ones would do).

Now I would trade the little squeak in the steering wheel right under the air bag part of the wheel...if I stick my finger in the gap and lift that panel it goes away.....
it's really annoying.....

I think now why people are going over the lines so much. Must give them a "S" plate to identify them.
As much as the Vientamese is selling their "V" plates about 15 years ago lol.
