Wow - now that makes sense why I have trouble opening her up before letting her get warm.

Thanks for the tips on hot top ten things I mostly knew (which is why i'm not buying an ss commodore) about RX8 and the info about warming it up etc. I'm taking delivery of my new red 8 tomorrow and yes i'm v.v. exited!!
Are there any sort of club days etc in melbourne? I know virtually nothing about rotaries & wouldn't mind meeting people who are in the know!!

I've always moved away slowly after a cold start, no matter what car I've had. I think it's just respect for the mechanicals. I certainly don't let it idle, but I never cane it from cold. I can imagine the engine saying "ouch".

This is apples and oranges, but BMW has not experienced a problem with hard driving on cold starts. One of their test programs has BMWs driven by German police. After a year of use they report no mechanical problems due to starting a cold car and immediately going into hot pursuit. That's pretty impressive.

I like the add with Gilchrist in it and he says he likes to drive straight away. Quite clever really.

Cheers,
Hymee.

The earlier BMW M3 as i recall had problems with driving hard on cold starts , it ended up with quite a few owners fighting with BMW for replacement engines BMW tried to keep this very quiet

cheers
