Anyone know what a bog standard RX-8 does around Wakefield?

No guesses please.Just times that someone actually did.Times of 68seconds are ridiculous to anyone thats knows the first thing about Wakefield. That would be a good time for a highly modified RX-7 on R compound tyres,on a good day.

Agreed Wakefields 2.3 km technical track is no picnic for the novice drivers .

Let's time ourselves manually in October... to much speculation now.

I can tell you what is a good time in Sandown though

Search for "Wakefield" with a user of "Hymee" will help you find this post with some numbers in it:

RENEW recently had another track day where some RX-8s attended.

Here are the results:
http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re...7/2005.WAKE.AM

The fastest RX-8 did a 1.16.

The two cars to pull a sub 1.10 time were both modified turbo RX-7s, both driven by people who can really drive and both on road-legal "slicks", eg Toyo RA-1s and both, judging by what has been said, with well over 250hp at the rear wheels. One of the drivers, Michael Nordsvan, holds several records at the local (to the ACT) hillclimb in various cars and classes.

That RX8 was either modded hardcore, or he was class A driver.
Since it says he is a class A driver, pulling 76 seconds, Hymee tops it by 8 seconds!
thus my conclusion is Hymee is a Class ++AAA D:D
I'm gonna get lapped come October !

I dunno if that time was accurate, and it definately wasn't official.

But it was fun.

RX-8s are a quick car though. I've been around QR in a 'stock' RX-8 on street tyres 3s quicker than my modded 235rwkW SS (LS1) on street rubber.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Even in a long straight track like Sandown. The FPV cannot keep up in the turn 1-4 and from 8-10. Therefore, their top speed before the 1st is not much more than us despite they are 100kW more under the bonnet. They are easily 4 seconds slower per lap.

Thanks Len,

I found your name in the list that Timbo emailed to me.

When Timbo comes back from o/s tomorrow, we will ask him to get the ball rolling .

Yeah that sounds about right... but could probably squeeze another second out of it IMHO.

FWIW I did a 1:15:50 in the 96 MX6 with exhaust, intake and really good tyres. My yellow 92 MX5 (1.6) does 1:17:5 on roadies and 1:15:8 on track tyres

I recall that when Motor ran its 2003 PCOTY contest, they used Wakefield as the track and Ric Bates ran c1:12 in the RX-8

thats pretty impressive in a stock RX-8

i own a s5 RX-7 with quite a few mods (350rwhp) and have done a 1:10 @ Wakefield so far but the car is not all that well set up for a tight track like wakefield, but i think anything below 1:13 is quite quick in a "street car"
