US recalls
US recalls
Anyone else notice the two recalls in the US for the gearbox and air bags. Anyone well connected know if Aussie cars are affected? NT Rotorhead?
Edit: Top of the Tech Garage if you haven't noticed:

Noticed this on the US forum as well and have been paying close attention since my gear shift just doesn't feel right.
Questioned my servicing dealer about this and was told that they were not aware of any recalls relating to gearboxes at the current point in time.
Seemed like a quick palm off to me! Guess we'll just wait and see if Mazda Oz announces anything.

I would like to know what you are experiencing, nojooc.
Cheers,
Hymee.
I've only done 1100kms in the car and sometimes the gear lever doesn't slot into gear smoothly during rapid shifting during "spirited driving".
Had it happen to me a couple of times and managed to lose on a few occassions (if you know what I mean).
Now before people start saying that it is a brand new gearbox and should still be fairly tight, I just want to add that even though I've only done 1100kms, those have been fairly invigorating 1100kms of driving
A new gearbox still shouldn't do this and I shouldn't have to ram and force the gear to engage.
Additionally, there seems to be a lot of "whirring" and "rattling" noises coming from the gearbox during hard acceleration.
Might get it checked out sooner, rather than later.

I think the gearbox and shift mechanism is quite a joy to use. The only thing I remember about noise, when it was new, you could sort of hear the synchros during firmer gear changes.
Cheers,
Hymee.
I had a few problems initially when shifting where the stick got stuck (and I don't think it was my fault). Now with close to 7000k's on the clock I can't remember the last time it happened.
There was a fair bit of noise in my box initially when sitting in neutral clutch out due to the throwout bearing, but this noise has all but disappeared now (search the forum for throwout to read more).
Get it checked out, however... there have been issues reported with gear changes due to problems with the clutch.

My 'box is a joy to use, too, but there is some noise -- notibly there is a whine (alsmost a turbo whistle) accelerating hard 2-3-4. Will review the US stuff and talk to my dealer.
Hmm -- just checked the US stuff. While my car fits within the built date range, my VIN is quite different -- suspect all Aus cars start with JM0FE10… not JM1FE… as per the US. So, off to the dealer!
