Hello, asking you guys again..

I'm ordering parts via Japanparts.com

What does this statement actually mean?

Put your request here for documents like Invoice approved Chamber of commerce or Cert of Origin which will be needed to clear custom clearance in your country. We charge the handling fee for the documents and the postage if you request to send the documents separately.

I don't really get it.. and is JDM unit stands for japanese domestic made unit?? or something..

You pay tax and duty if what you are importing totals $1000AUD.

To collect your items if it goes above the 1000AUD threshold, you will be contacted by custom and you can organise to get yourself an import broker... to get the paperwork to allow you to collect from customs depot. Import brokers are normally close to the Customs depot. NO pressure!.

From memory, an import broker is about $55 for their service. After that, you'll need to pay the 10% GST on top of the broker fees if you need to pay tax.

TIP: Keeps costs under 1000AUD... it'll be tax and duty free! Normally, the postman/courier will deliver the items to your door depending on size.

As for all those documentation from Japanparts.com - I don't read them, all I care is that I get the parts I want ASAP.

Japanparts are very fast with their shipment. I've used them 3 times and as soon as your CC details has been approved you'll get your order within 3 days to your door (if there is stock).

I think JapanParts use GlobalBAX to do the shipping, they (GlobalBAX)do the custom and all. Well, that's what they use when I ordered my wheels for my previous car.

I can confirm that. BAX provides quite a good service in my experience. It's all built into Japanparts shipping costs, quoted when you order, so there are no hidden extras (except import tax and GST if u r over $A1000).

Oh, and I'm nothing more than a satisfied customer

In this instance we've quoted to ship to Port of Sydney; by surface + just to avoid confusion, this will take longer than 3 days!

Also: We are not "tricking the price"; that's not our style. We don't undervalue or underestimate documentation for Customs purposes, that's illegal and could cause you ( and us ) a great deal of trouble

If you live where you are required to pay Taxes, pay 'em; or emigrate

( Lecture over )

We have advised the customer there are Brokers fees and Tax to pay OZ side
As has been posted, this is "No Drama" and a well trodden path

All assistance and advice provided, we're here to help! We can even introduce a Broker OZ side ( + the Shippers will do that too )

No apologies; there's no harm in asking if y'don't know....

The US$ has gone from 121.5JPY/$1 to 118JPY/$1 in the last 3 days; whatever the US$ does, the AUS$ will *surely* follow....

I would suggest the Yen has been undervalued for way too long ( no complaints from us ) but it ain't gonna last

if you're going to play the "wait and watch the exchange rate improve game" you will likely be disappointed

My dear Graham. As of today

1.00 AUD = 93.3276 JPY

So it is not Yen getting stronger, I think you will find there are some report out in the US regarding their retails reports and the stock market that responsible to the fall of greenback.

93 Yen is ridiculous in my sense... good for us.

Happy to chime in here as another satisfied customer katana.

You can trust Graham and japanparts to do the right thing by you. The goodwill they've developed with the RX8 community has been well-earned.

+ God Bless you all; it's a two way street; you look after us as well

93JPY+ to the OZ dollar; you should be buying from us like Packrats :LOL!*

That would be just about the highest I've EVER seen the Ozzie dollar against the Yen

One things for sure; an exchange rate this good *won't last*

I'll just chip in on the currency thing. As I am working with a Jap company at present, I can advise current expectations of their currency traders suggest it won't get much better than now!

Our thoughts exactly; if you're thinking of buying anything for your RX-8, get us to quote *sooner* rather than later

Sorry Graham - I was being a little cheeky. I thought I'd give you some scope to make a sales pitch.

I'll check out the options and get back to you.
