Andrew its probably better to speak to Mazfix as I am only Parrotting half the stuff I'm excitedly writing about...

larger injectors are part of the stage one turbo cost.

The 3rd injector is to pump more fuel into the car.. It is a stage 2 "new territory-add on" which is getting done.

The 3rd injector has not been done before! If Archie cannot get it to perform as he expects it to ,..he will not be charging....

Hopefully he will get it to perform as he expects and give birth to many more horses ...........

By God I'm excited!!!!!!!

2 more sleeps!!!!

Thanks for the response, but I guess what I am most curious about with the 3rd injector is how the heck they fit it!

Just thought of something else too.
Mazfix have a dyno graph of HP and Torque right? The torque I am guessing is in lb-in else its lb-ft and they have found massive torque gains at the wheel. According to that graph the stock RX-8 had ~72Nm of torque at the wheels (~640 lb-in = 640/12*1.3558 = 72.31). To me that equates to a ~2/3's loss of torque from the mazda specified 211Nm at the engine.

I really dont want this to sound like a slagging session, its not my intention. I just want to understand all the info.

Speaking with Archie today...who stated he is breaking new ground with my car. As he is adding the 3rd injector today......He has put in a huge intercooler, basically every option he's offering I've taken ...and more...
My car has been at Mazfix for near 1 month.

Cost.....well my wife isn't going to be too pleased.... I had enough waiting and searching enough talking about the right FI I just had to do it....

I had a drive in the Mazfix Rx8, met Archie and the lads.. and that was it...
The turbo is $10k then add $heavy duty clutch, $radiator $bigger intercooler, $bigger oil coolers, $flywheel and counterweight, $revi airbox, $boost switch, $turbo timer, $custom front and rear exhaust, $blow off valve /plumbed back into itself, $Gauges x 3, $The extra dyno time for the tuning of the 3rd injector plus all the $labour to fit all the above....

Wait there's more !!!

$They are servicing the car, also $taking it to mazda in Ipswich for some starter motor recall thing, and getting the latest flash for the computer before $final dyno tuning

Think about it....
I am paying for what I'm getting... And I love my car ....!!!

P.S. I also want the best for my children as well..
Thanks for the info db and please don't think any of us are being critical. I'm sure you're getting your money's worth. I just wanted a bit of an idea on cost to plan and compare it to other potential options.

I agree with Kall - the basic price sounds about right. You haven't costed out the other things but I get the general idea. I'd be grateful for a PM with the total cost but that's a matter for you.

Still, would be nice if MazFix would cost the things on their site so we can all figure it out for ourselves without having to guess at things or ask others to tell us what they're spending. I'm conscious that can be a touchy subject.

Oh My GoD!!!! Violently Quick !!!!!!

Firstly, thank you to xxup for the P/UP and driving yesterday. Much Appreciated Mate !!!

I will be leaving my 8 at Mazfix for a few more weeks yet as there is more to do...
All I can say is WOW!!!! 5pounds boost is great - impressive....!!! 10 pounds is Violent!!! with a capital V.

We had 4 men in my car when I test drove the work in progress and it wanted to go sideways on takeoff (10pounds). I was n't really flooring it either... It was a feel the boost/turbo kick in drive... if you know what I mean.... My Father alone weighs 93 or so kgs he was in the back seat for balist...... along with Archie (Mazfix Guru) I was screaming with excitement, xxup was in the front seat with me....... It was a special moment indeed.....

As I mentioned in an earlier email we now need more fuel in the thing to take it one step beyond the Violence!!!.... This is like a drug......

By the way,..... There is no Lag!!!!!........ It just keeps pinning you to your head rest...... Gear change is smooth......

When we first got to Mazfix..Archie showed us his handy work.. The engine bay and underneath the car... the Exhaust was a masterpiece, heat sheilding and other finishings under the car were A1. My 5pound 10pound boost switch is cool !!!and is mounted in the coin tray to the right of the steering wheel.... Orange light on for 10 pounds..no light for 5

oops the wife is home
Thats all for now......

I can vouch for this - stage 1 was super impressive.. It pushed me so far into the seat that the seat belt went into some pretensioning mode... Stage 2 was like sitting in a commerical jet when they go full throttle on take off... I have to say that dbrx8 is understating the moment - it was like nothing on earth..

Stage 2 was too powerful for me, but stage 1 is just right... Hmmmm...

Yes - that is the really surprising part... Sigh! My car feels like a Daewoo now...

Oh yes - this is beautiful workmanship... The part I really like is that it looks like it has always been part of the car.. All the cheap looking bits are made by Mazda and the quality stuff is from Mazfix...

Dare I say that the switch is only the start of it..

Before i contemplate any form of FI by anyone company i will sit by the side lines as FI will only compound this problem for the cars that are affected by this .

Note i am aware that some members here in Australia seem to think this wont effect OZ cars but i think it will

Recall has been confirmed in USA .

Hope Mazda Australia does the right thing by us and also instigates one .

stuff the recall. I doubt my car has low compression (so it wouldn't be replaced) and has run flawlessly from day one.

if you play with turbos you should be willing to rebuild the motor anyway.

this looks like a cool kit and I'm keen to see more. 200rwkW would be more than enought for me. the power levels this kit will make is insane

Reinforcing your stock engine getting a compression test FIRST instead of doubting is a lot safer cheaper in the long run , than strapping on a FI UNIT AND HOPING FOR THE BEST

well done dbrx8. I wish I was there on Friday however, the house reno is taking a lot of my spare time.

I hope to see your car when you are here again for the finished product.

I think a lot of people are watching this thread - I am seriously interested in getting it done.

I'd need 240+ kw at the wheels to consder it, 250-260 would be unreal.

Too much beer up there?

Well done drx8 though. May be you should run that on the drag strip and see if the heavy duty clutch and turbo will get you a low 13s

I think that's a valid question.

Not sure about the Mazfix turbo kit (in it's various stages) but so far as I'm aware the S/C kit sold by RotorMaster/DNA Motorsport is completely street legal in NSW.

BTW, how dumb is it that the states can't get it together to introduce uniform regs on this kinda thing?
