Trainspotting Rx8's for beginners.

Well, sitting in the Cathay Pacific lounge waiting for my flight back to Auckland, thought I'd put pen to paper or pixels to silicon...(doesn't seem the same somehow) and tell of my 3 weeks spotting across 4 continents.

Dallas: started out in Dallas after a fast connect on QA from Auckland....drank many beers at a club called with a russian name owned by an expat aussie that escapes me.... walked out the door Monday morning at 2ish and damn near tripped over a nice black unit, only Rx I spotted in Dallas!!

On to Bentonville Arkansas, middle of nowhere and only purpose in life seems to be that Sam Walton set up Walmarts HO there and they never moved it! Despite being a very rich little bit of the world score zero.

On to Springfield Mo, driving for a couple of hours....spotted on blue, just your basic stratos. (for you trivia buffs, there is a springfield in every state of the US.....Simpsons fans can now impress their mates...or not)

Up to Washington, got a bit better a Tit and a Black, but not much for two days spent mostly touring around the burb's of DC looking at Supermarkets.

London...praise be the Pom's...except for the cricket!!!! We were there as the Maori's thumped the Lions and are very happy to be well gone given Ponting's nancy boy s performance(i may have to swap back to the kiwi passport).
South Kensi the first morning, nearly run down by a Lambo Murci!!, 5 minutes later a Gallardo cruises by. I've never seen so many hot cars in all my days including car shows!!
Six 8's over the 4 days we were there, seems that the english do like a bit of style, didn't see one 350Z :D

Brussels, if you get the chance to go to Brussels, have a nap instead, back to driving on the wrong side of the road, lotsa Pugs but no zoom zoom.

Leeds, Paris of North England.....2 count them 2 not bad for 24 hours...reaffirms my belief that although the Poms struggle to build good cars these days, they have taste.

Finally Colombo Sri Lanka.....nope... but we did have an elephant turn up in the ball room (2nd floor!) at a conference but thats another storey. (& story)

Time to hang up my amatuer spotter guide and climb back on a kite home!!! Can't wait to see my kids, my wife and if time permits loosen the carbon in the Hymee:D

Well, London is the capital of England and the 'poms' are those guys you chucked out in the 1700s after the Boston Tea Party, etc. You call them Limeys.

Cricket is similar to baseball in that it's played with a bat and ball and you have to run after hitting it to score but in it's proper form it takes up to five days to play. And everything else about it is too bloody hard to describe simply.

The Maoris are rugby union side from New Zealand made up of indigenous players. The Lions are a rugby union side made up of the countries of the British Isles who are touring NZ at the moment (go the All Blacks). Rugby is a bit like your football but involves much more skill, less protective gear and is better to watch! :p

Ponting is the captain of the Aussie cricket team and after recent performances better not bloody well come home if he hasn't got the ashes with him.

Oh stuff it - I'm running out of patience. Figure the rest out yourself. Not our fault Americans insisted on making up their own language. :p :D

"No worries" is common when someone thanks you in Aus - I guess it's similar to the slang "No sweat" which still gets used from time to time both here and in the States. "My pleasure" also gets used but that is mostly from older people.

Otherwise, many of us don't feel the need to say anything. I think many Aussies see "your welcome" as something either dreamed up by anxious marketing types or desperate waiters hoping for a bigger tip next time!! :p :D

Let me know if anything else gets lost in translation!!
