Thanks Lock
(raises bat in air and nods respectfully to crowd..

and also to you army
... actually I consider my self in my late 30's ... like thirtytwenty
and another thought: Jeez, that went quick :p
Think I might go out and buy myself a red sports car ... and pull a beautiful blonde ... wooo hooo look at that ... I already have :o
I have to say that, almost inately, the project manager in me came out and, when I saw I was approaching 'the big day' and my post count was likewise approaching 1,000... I should make them coincide ... right on schedule...
How sad is that ?? :D

Yeah, have a really great birthday, Timbo. You make make 50 seem even smaller by saying it's actually just 7^2+1. However, 50 is easy - you wait until the later ones hit you. Look what happened to L&L.

Happy 50th Birthday Timbo.
As they say, you're not over the hill yet, but you now have a great view down both sides of it....
Enjoy the next 50 - you're well on your way to being a collector's item..... :D
Cheers, Chris.
(I've enjoyed your 1000 posts too. Keep them coming.)

Happy Birthday Timbo
Like an RX-8 you're just getting going when the needle hits the number beginning with 5 - just let it rev on through 'til you head the redline and the buzzer sounds (ps don't forget to change up).
[and with that thought it's time to turn off all the computers and disconnect the cable modem as we have a summer thunder storm motoring through atm]

Thanks guys ... am feeling a bit fragile this morning .. I don't know how many times I have to learn the "don't have a cognac at the end of a big night lesson".
Well, I have to say I am glad the day is over, and I can get on. Despite all the positive words especially from those who have passed the mark, it does hit you
Warning -- self indulgent reflection follows...
I must say it is interesting being a participant on this forum. I've 'met' some really interesting people, whose 'company' I enjoy. Wonder if we'd have struck up a conversation in a pub? And having even really met some of those people, it restores my faith in human kind. Even some of the US guys, when they are not taking themselves so seriously, are great. Same goes even for some from NZ
It is all an interesting virtual world we inhabit.
As to the innings, yep, pretty happy with it. Three great sons (whom I'll call my boundaries, taka) -- youngest 19, oldest 24 -- although they did have the ***** with me for banning them from the 8 (I tell them it's not me, it's the insurance company) but suddenly they grow up, and as they get more successful at work and so-on they can make their own choices. One divorce -- nearly run out, might be the cricket parlance -- well, at least I wasn't caught behind :p I've established, failed or sold five businesses. I'll keep on doing it to, until I get it right
Wonderful, supportive and successful wife (#2) Haven't told you, but she was a Porsche owner (911 Carrera) when I first met her, but now thinks most things automotive to be a waste of money, and perfectly happy with the corporate Calais. Well, it simply means we don't compete, doesn't it
Any regrets? Nup -- oh well, a divorce is an expensive lesson, but I don't regret it. Probably the one thing that bugs me is my continuing fetish with being an early adopter of new technology and gadget. Crikey I have bought some crap in my time -- good ideas poorly executed usually. Makes me wonder why I didn't buy an R100 or RX-2 all those years ago
However, while I am getting better, in my cupboard I have such wonderfully diverse devices as an original model Apple Newton, a Yamaha WX5 wind synthesizer
, and Osborne portable PC running CPM, a crashed-on-first flight RC helicopter... and they are just the things I keep persisting with let alone those I've thrown out. Why? I guess it's all part of the pursuit of the silly grin thing. And when you get it, as with the 8, it's great
:p
What next? Continue working -- developing good people and showing them how to enjoy what they do but never take any of it too seriously -- I've never lived to work --life is too short! To continue to travel and enjoy time with family and friends. A mate of mine has just become a grandfather, which hit him more than turning 50, but now he's into it -- the whole 'all care and no responsibility' thing! Sounds ok to me. Basically, to continue to enjoy all life has to offer, and have fun wherever possible.
Hmmm, I feel another track day coming on :D

Timbo,
The pleasure of knowing you has been entirely ours.
Another track day....this man improves with age. Most of us must have fitted new tyres since last Wakefield - few of them the original Potenza from my readings - so we do have new comparisons to make. And approaching autumn Hymee might have something entirely different to show us.
Does anyone know if emack has sold his car; it was a lovely package.
Timbo, I bet you never catch me in the age race, except after I'm dead

Thanks Jack. Saw emack's car in Sat SMH of 15/01 but not since. They seem to sell pretty quickly
Tim
Edit: I lied. It's still listed on drive.com.au here
