Hey, a mate of mine wants to cruz as well. He rolls in an RX7. Its still a rotor and Mazda but has twin hair dryers . So that's 3 for me. Me- RX8, my Bro Evo-8, and my mate-RX7.

Also depends on the weather

Also, spoke to my dad last night and he was interested in coming too in his Lotus Exige S? Is that ok dave? I told him he would have to go at the back behind all the cars with better engines than his..

Hahaha, for sure Matt. It's turning out to be a mongrel-fest anyways, so why the hell not.

The aim of this cruise is a social gathering rather than an RX8 parade, hence MACCAA's attendence in the Pogo Terror.

I draw the line at Camry's and VW Eos' though!!

Fair enough - I was just teasing you.

Yours can be the mothership for the cruise!

Mind you, I think safety applies to every passenger - born and unborn. I've never understood the distinction - they're all precious to you (except when they wake you up too early after getting on it the night before ).

Hmm this date looks good for me. I've marked it in my calendar.

Assuming we get good (ie. dry) weather that day I'm about 90% sure I'll be there.

I understand your point of view e5cape but before we right off the RX8, lets put a balanced view out there! Firstly I think we all agree that no car is 100 percent safe or collision-proof, and clearly your choice of vehicle in terms of space and comfort for your pregnant wife is a better one.

But it's the safety features which ultimately save lives, and your post inspired me to do a comparison of the two vehicles. I was surprised to find the RX8 crash test ratings were higher than I first thought....but I couldn't find one on the Hummer. I did find however that Hummers get a measily 8mpg, so to all those people who complain about fuel economy think of Justin!

Here are the RX8 crash test stats... http://www.safercar.gov/Cars/3534.html.

..and here are the Hummers vs RX8 features... http://hummerbuyersguide.theautochan...90&car3=&car4=

Hummer Safety

Driver Airbag............................................ ..............Std.
Front Side Airbag............................................ .........N/A
Front Side Airbag with Head Protection.......................N/A
Passenger Airbag............................................ ........Std.
Side Head Curtain Airbags.......................................N/A
Second Row Side Airbags.........................................N/A
Second Row Side Airbag with Head Protection............N/A
Power Windows........................................... ...........Std.
Electronic Parking Aid..............................................N/A
Trunk Anti-Trap Device............................................ N/A

Hummer Braking & Traction

4 Wheel Drive/All Wheel Drive ...............................Standard
ABS Brakes (2 or 4 Wheel)....................................Standard
Automatic Load-Leveling........................................N/A
Electronic Brake Assistance....................................N/A
Limited Slip Differential or Axle...............................N/A
Locking Differential...................................... .........N/A
Traction Control........................................... .......Standard
Vehicle Stability Control System...........................Optional

Interesting stats all round, but if I were in your shoes I'd probably go the Hummer, and you have a good excuse.

It is also good however to have a thoroughbred event....

..

Enforcer...thanks for the details post , but my Hummer is a H3 not the H2
therefore is have better fuel economy, actually it is about the same compare to my Rx8
i get 400kms per 60L tank .

H3 does have both driver and front passenger curtain airbag , and 2 rear airbags.
In total it have 6 airbags.

Gawd! Enuff with the Hummer talk already. Unless you're hit by a fully loaded semi, something tells me your airbag count will remain academic, lol.

I'll be in the Shire on Sunday to see some old friends, so I might do a bit of recon on the Sutho meet-up point and confirm, etc.

Have updated the first post with a few more details.

Gradually sneaking up on the details, so if anyone has any suggestions or feedback, speak up now. Will firm things up over the next week or so.

Numbers are growing kiddies. Looks like it'll be a fun day out, so if you're umming and aahing just say yes.

If we extend it down to the 'Gong are there any ACTer's who would like to drive up to meet us??
