Thanks for your good wishes guys and gal and sorry you couldn't make it kunz. Was looking forward to checking out the new kit.
We had a nice little drive this morning up through the twistie section of the Old Pac Hwy and back again. Mike, Azza and I flew the RX8 flag and MACCAA turned up in his spanking red Polo GTi.
Largely had the bends to ourselves which makes a nice change. No rain but the roads were still wet from overnight and it was a bit too greasy to push hard. Plenty of bikes out but we were faster around the corners.
Had a short drive of the Polo. After a couple of hours in the 8 the higher seating position and enormous head room felt a bit strange. I found the clutch to have a really high takeup point too but this might have been exacerbated by comparison with the 8. That said, I had some fun in it. Gets along very well and seems to have good grip without too much torque steer at all. Like the side bolsters on the seats - hold you in better than the 8's seats. All in all, I can understand the attraction given the price but I don't think they're for me.
Good to have a little hit out with you guys this morning. Let's keep the mini-cruises coming so more people can attend as their availability allows.

I was good to meet rev, mike and maccaa.
As rev said, was a bit slippery however no traffic at all so it was fun.
lucky i was doing the speed limit after leaving you guys as there was a mobile speed trap setup just after i passed/left you guys looking at the boat.
great colour on the polo! red always looks faster.

Had my own little cruise today, having picked up my (red ) Polo yesterday, and I would agree with those comments as a first impression. It's no alternative to the 8, but handles itself very nicely. I'll miss the neutrality of the 8, but the understeer bias combined with great throttle response and lift-off oversteer makes for some good fun through the corners. My tyres are still green and I'm bedding brakes in, so nothing too hard, but I can see where it will be fun
