Where is sco when you need him?

SO you reckon your convex mirror doesn't have a printed warning on it? I would have thought that would have been a requirement.

I reverse into my car park at work against a besser-block wall on the passengers side. I just about do that in full trust of my left side mirror. It would be much harder to do with a convex mirror. (It was in my Commodore).

So I wonder when they changed then?

Cheers,
Hymee.

Nope, no warning. And I'll bet my left one that my left mirror is a wide angle jobbie. You need to get yourself down to Aspley and score one through parts and accessories....I'm sure it'll be cheap

Cheers, Gomez.

Hi Guys

This is my first post. I've been reading this site for weeks. Picked my RX8 up in early September. Great car. My car is build date 08/2004 and it has the wide angle mirror.

Spaldo,

Welcome to our pad!

10 out of 10 for putting such relevant info in your first post! That is the great thing about this place.

We did a thing like this a while ago, trying to work out when a particular PCM version started to appear on delivered vehicles.

BTW - Gomez's RX-8 is older, but you weren't to know! Your car is about exactly 1 year younger than mine! Actually, mine was a JUL build, delivered in AUG.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Didn't take my RX-8 fishing - but if IIRC, both my mirrors are wide angle ones - maybe not as wide angle as some... but wider than standard flat mirrors.

Seen a few RX-8's on my fishing trip... they have boot lip spoilers -- and saw my first dark blue out on the road briefly -- looked great in the afternoon sun.

Dear Spaldo,

I'm planning buy a brand new winning blue leather pack manual rx8 next week. I do not have idea which dealer has a good deal and customer service. How much did you pay for it? How long did you wait for delivery? And , Where did you bought it (Sydney).

Sorry I keep asking same questions because I just want to get more information for it. Sorry Guys! :p

You can PM me for those details. Thanks!

Cheers

Herring is the most popular fish on the European dining table....

But, we digress. Do you have a plain LH mirror?

Yes we did digress. It is but one priveledge of being the thread starter.

I reckon both of them are "flat". So I guess the only way to tell would be to get a flat mirror out, and compare the field of view from both of them.

It certainly doesn't look distorted when I use it. I suppose if it was a very subtle distortion you would not really notice. But I did really notice it in the alabama slammer.

Cheers,
Hymee.

It must be flat. It's quite clear, the difference when you compare the view while driving. But, if you prefer a flat mirror, stick with it .

On my EF Falcon I fitted an EL convex mirror, they weren't avail when the EF came out. I love the increased field of view, but then I'm not constantly backing against a brick wall on my LHS.

Wonder when they changed though? From what Taka said, I'm not so sure he doesn't have a convex one on his car. His is Sept '03 isn't it?

Gomez.

And when he works out what he has, and posts the result, he can appologise at the same time

Cheers,
Hymee.

BTW - I didn't think I mentioned a preference either - just comparing notes with what I saw on the US car.

The double negative! It takes me a while to understand that. Don't use complex English on me mate :p

I dunno - I tell you what I see and you tell me Gomez

Right mirror - large house behind me with a perfect triangular roof.
Left mirror - smaller house behind me with a perfect triangular roof - no distortion. Also I see more of the house than the other one.
Rear mirror - same size as the right/driver side mirror.

So is this convex, or not? My car was built at 1230 on 30 Sept 2003 a/c to the factory. It took 4 days. and was on the ship to Oz 7 Oct 2003.

So this tells us that the left mirror is further away from you. From this I can deduce you were sitting in the driver's seat. Am I right? :D Possibly even facing forward?

Either that or your passenger mirror is pointed at your neighbors house....

I was sitting in the driver seat and the car is parked in the garage. The fact that the left mirror is smaller, does that mean it is wide angle? I cannot tell

You can see your house from within your garage? The plot thickens.... perhaps someone has stolen your house?
