These guys are the best in the business. If they are claiming 13kws I believe them Most of the increase will be because of the special high flow cat they make

They were responsible for the exhaust system Mazda used on the RX-7 SP race cars.

There stuff isnt cheap though.

I'm sure they will put the pictures up soon, however at the moment that is all they have as they are still developing the system. That is my car they are using and they are still working on it.Just thought some of you guys might like to see what results they have so far.I that a few of you guys were interested when the original smb exhaust thread came up a couple of months ago.It certainly seems to be a whole lot better than the results I got from my old hi-tech muffler that we dynoed at only 4 extra kw's.Hi-tech claim 12kw's,so that is on the scrap heap now..

Your right rotaryenvy, that is one fine looking cat midpipe. Cant wait till it is officially available, as I am definitely going to get one.
Kudos to smb for taking this on and putting out such a great product . I had no doubt about them as their reputation is worldclass.

SMB / Walker exhaust do exceptionally high quality work.

A mate of mine has that (one-off) RX-7SPII Mazda did back in 98.

Just look at the workmanship they did with his complete exhaust system.

New dump pipe off turbo's into drop pipe, both HPC'd then onto the polished stainless part pictured. All made on a jig for production line purposes.

Mattdrift, thanks for that. Can you do us a favour and give us an appraisal of the smb exhaust that is fitted to your car. How does the car feel power and response wise and noise level wise? Dyno figures suggest a very satisfying power improvement!!!

regards

No worries. The exhaust is first of all good looking. It is all polished stainless steel and for those who have been looking at exhausts it looks very similar to the HKS Legamax cat-back system. The muffler has been split into 2 smaller mufflers.More importantly though the power and sound. There doesnt seem to be much difference down low but from 3-beep in the rev range in the mid and top end it feels like it has more torque and responsiveness.I did have a High-Tech cat-back exhaust on before so the difference is not as extreme as from factory. The High-Tech system claimed 12kw atw gain but on the dyno it only gave 4 extra kw atw. The car does seem to rev more quickly and cleanly though. It has a deeper more resonating rotary sound than before but is still quiet below 3k revs.at no point is the cabin of the car filled with that exhaust droan you often hear but it does build up from 3k to redline to be quite loud and backfires on downshifts and high rev upshifts, but just mildly, nothing out of control.I tend to think that most of the kw gain I feel is the result of the new cat and that the cat and midpipe are what have deepened the engine note. The workmanship seems good too, welds, joins etc.. I was hoping that the owner of SMB would have the pictures up today but I'm sure they will be at the above link tomorrow sometime. We are going to run it on the dyno for a final reading as soon as we can arrange a time that works for both of us,but I don't think it will be too different to the figures already up..Hope this helps.

I'm not sure how good the Hymee exhaust is sorry,so I couldn't tell you if it is better or not unfortunately and as he was fitting the system for free I didn't really want to go into prices with him or I'd feel guilty that was freeloading.I don't think the price will be the most attractive part of the package though unfortunately if the prices on their website for other similar systems are anything to go on. There is an email address on their site for any enquiries..

That's true Taka. They are only 2.5 inch I think.but I did have heat issues with larger tips on my last exhaust and had tomake them smaller as they were melting my bumper where they got too close!

Excellent news on this new system. Now I will start saving for one of these systems. If the work they did on that RX-7 SPII is anything to go by then the quality will be worth it.................. Yummy
