Servicing and reflashing

Greetings All,

Just had the 10,000 service last Friday - cost was $270 and I even got a small bottle of the fabled genuine Mazda oil :-)

Before it got done I asked about the ECU saying I felt sure there was a later one than it has in it available but when I picked it up they said nothing had been changed in that regard :-(

But the best bit was when I was walking toward it to drive away - I saw a DENT ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR !

Yes it had been dented while they had it and/or Ming/Motor One people had it to look at the cloudy door trims that are getting replaced. To say I was not impressed is an understatement - and do you know NOBODY said 'sorry' on that day ! For that I had to wait until this morning when I talked to the Service Manager. Of course they are fixing it - paintless dent removal or something - and it had better be invisible when it is done.

Just fills you with confidence for the years ahead eh ?

Regards
Jeffneil

Dont worry Gomez.... it should not happen in Mazda in City Melbourne.

Better not say anything... I am just about to call them for a 10K service.... (nervous).

Greetings All,

Ouch indeed - isn't that a typical price for the 10,000 service ?

They also rotated the tyres :-)

And provided a 1 litre bottle of the mythical Mazda genuine oil...

But no reflash :-(

This was at McGrath Sutherland - who I previously recommended as a great place to BUY one - they have SIX in stock right now.

Phillip, if you are not happy with the interior protection - let them know about it - we got our seats redone and of course the door trims that are now being replaced. It's too much $ not to be perfect. I told them I am ashamed to open the doors and that's not good enough on a nearly $70,000 car !

Regards
Jeffneil

That sounds like far too much for a 10,000km service. I just anomimously rang Grand Prix - $120 for the scheduled service, and $18 for the rotate and balance.

Cheers,
Hymee.

$270 a bad price for a factory service? You got to be kidding me right. This is standard price for SYDNEY at least.

JeffNeil, you should consider coming alittle further up on the princess hwy to Rockdale Service centre. The manager is awsome and has been nothing but excellent to me and my other family members with Mazda's.

He keeps me up to date with things that are happening and he is only an email away. He has responded to every single question that i have asked him and if he did not know he made the approriate calls to find out.

If the leadership is great the service is great i feel comfortable leaving my car there.

Regards
Phillip

Sorry about the door man, I'm due for my 10K too i'll have to keep a close look out.... I rang a few dealer about prices and reflashing Liverpool was about $120 the cheapest but the person on the other line didn't think there was any ecu updates. Most other dearlers were charging $200+

I haven't decided where to put mine in yet.

I was quoted $120 by Grand Prix Mazda - but ended up paying about $140. Bought my own top up oil - 5L for $54... I'm still well ahead.

Just looking through the owners manual, $120 seems about right for a 10k service....it's an oil/filter change and a (very quick) look about.....City Mazda in Melb also rotate the tyres, but that does not justify $210.....

It'll get a wash too, I s'pose......I better ring around in a few weeks, I'm rapidly approaching 6000k's
Have you considered a price from anywhere else, Taka?

Cheers, Gomez.

the other thing to note is that some the the service centres still don't have the 5w-30 oil. So if oil is important to you check that they stock the correct one

Gomez baby...

I am efficient ... here are the Melbourne prices for a 10K service.

Winner - Ringwood Mazda $170
City Mazda $210 (I did not recheck)
Dandenong $230
Penfold and Brighton $290

I did not check Werribee or Essendon coz it would be too far for me.

I need to fix the noisy seat so CITY MAZDA is STILL the winner!!

5 minute work :cough: :cough:

(proof read - checked @ choppy)

Taka

Werribee Mazda charged me $209 for 10k service yesterday, and that included a reflash. They hand washed the car when finished and fixed up a rattle in the door for me. Their customer service was good ( I enjoyed their book on the history of RX-7's while waiting), only thing I could complain about is price!

I really cannot understand the huge price differences- $120 is a huge spread for the same job. Pays to shop around I guess...

Property prices in the southern states would make some difference.. but $100 difference ... I doubt very much.
