Serious Concern Need Help

Coming off the highway doing 110 km , just having slowed down to 80 my car suddenly DIED on me WTF , luckily no traffic behind me and i managed to pull over to the side of the road .

Both THE Engine light and Dsc / Tsc control lights were on .

I waited a minute then started my car up and reset the ECU and both the lights went off ., however the engine is idling rough , i managed to drive home at a slow speed and garaged my car .

This is potentially a deadly scenario had this occured on the freeway it could easily caused a major accident .

The suspect culprits that i can think off that may have caused this problem is an
Electrical fault , Malfunctioning O² sensor , Faulty catalyctic converter .wtf not happy jan .

check this link to a similar problem.

remove non-std parts and see if it still happens?

Similar but definetely not the same as i was in third gear accelarating , when it just died .

I recently replaced both my Leading and trailing spark plugs i noticed that the Leading plugs are the hotter ones and have the tops crossed at 4 edges .

The original Leading plugs were RE7 A - L the hotter plugs are RE7 C- L MAYBE THEY ARE CAUSING THE PROBLEM ??

Very much doubt it's a plug problem, Michael....

Keep us informed....sounds like a PCM problem to me.

I have a suspicion that it could be related to my cold start problem .

https://www.rx8club.com/australia-new-zealand-forum-37/cold-start-problem-66719/

I have downloaded the fix for this and showed it to MY mazda dealer the service manager said that he was not prepared to order the interlock clucth swicth , instead he was prepared to cannabilse a new RX8 and try the part on my car to make sure that would solve my problem .

Not only do you have to find the problem by yourself but when you do the Mazda dealer wants to shirk his responsibility UNDER THE WARRANTY but is WILLING TO cannabilise a new car to test the switches on my car to see if the part is the one he needs

Dont get me wrong i enjoy my car but the dealership network that Mazda has is the worst i have ever had to deal with .

Sounds like a throttlebody problem to me.

A problem of the exact same description happens to the Mazda6. It's apparently, after having it happen three times to me and me lucky enough to have a logger and scanner, some random bug in the ECU that detects a misalignment between what the TB is reporting it's set at and what the ECU thinks it should be set at -- it confuses the system and causes some instant cascading error in the code and it just instantly kills the car and throws a myriad of lights. And it always happens on deceleration.

This sounds a definetely possible cause thanks for the heads up

my dealer raided a new car for parts. it was a shift ****. I didn't care as It saved me waiting for one from mazda.
what's the big deal? it's probably a big hassle for a dealer to order parts on warranty if it's not going to 'fix' the problem. your dealer is willing to try your fix; he could of just told you they were unrelated problems.

Mazda has attempted to source new TBs for the Mazda6 numerous times, but apparently the problem still exists even today, but it's reported much less. It was always a rare problem and I wouldn't be surprised if your dealer would have no idea about the Mazda6 TB problems so don't be surprised if you mention it to him as a possibility and he doesn't know what you're talking about.

To this day I don't believe Mazda hasn't issued any sort of TSB or even an MRI to solve the TB problems despite the fact that they know it's a problem and they've been trying to fix it. Probably because it's potentially serious enough to warrant a federal safety recall but Mazda can't offer a solution, so a recall would be pointless.

These are the DTCs for the Mazda6 TB problem. It's not entirely uncommon for the light to go off when the car is turned on because the car checks and determines there's no longer a problem. It shuts off the light but the information is stored in the computer. If your problem is the same, you might be able to find the freeze frame data if there is any.

DTC P2135 [AJ]
TP sensor No.1/No.2 voltage correlation

DETECTION CONDITION
The PCM compares the TP sensor No.1 signal value and TP sensor No.2 signal value. If the signal correlation for both is out of specification, the PCM determines that the TP sensor has a malfunction.
Diagnostic support note
This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
MIL illuminates if PCM detects the above malfunction condition during first drive cycle.
PENDING CODE is available if PCM detects the above malfunction condition.
FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
TP sensor malfunction
PCM malfunction

DTC P2101 [L3]
Throttle actuator circuit range/performance

DETECTION CONDITION
If the PCM detects any of the following conditions, PCM determines that throttle circuit has malfunction.
Default throttle angle that PCM memorized and the throttle angle with ET control relay OFF is not much.
Voltage from ET control relay is too high or too low
PCM detects big voltage difference between from ET control relay and from main relay
PCM internal malfunction
Diagnostic support note
This is a continuous monitor.
MIL illuminates if PCM detects the above malfunction conditions in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in PCM.
PENDING CODE is available if PCM detects the above malfunction condition during first drive cycle.
FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
DTC is stored in PCM memory.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
ET control relay and related circuit malfunction
Main relay and related circuit malfunction
Throttle position sensor No.1 and related circuit malfunction
Throttle position sensor No.2 and related circuit malfunction
PCM malfunction

A shift **** is a slight different scenario than taking others parts of a new car ??

How would you like it if the brand new car you brought had been used as a donor for its parts .

how is it a different scenario? the interlock switch is an easily accessible electrical switch $10 or so worth. if it was a major part I would be worried, but part from the electrical wiring similar to a connector, it's nothing.

um im not sure whether you've found a solution to your problem... but reading https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...talling+freeway i think i know what the problem may be... do you have an aftermarket air filter? because i had this problem and the problem occurs when you're cruising at high speeds in neutral... it's got something to do with the air flow meter and the filter... as you're cruising at the higher speeds and put it into neutral, too much air is flowing onto the filter and it mucks up the air flow meter... then all the lights come on...

you can fix it by placing something in front of the air box so the air doesn't flow directly onto the filter.. it also gives u 5 more kW on dyno

You need to find out the DTC code stored in the car rather than clearing them.

I doubt it is your plug at all.

Poor batch of fuel is also unlikely as the computer will adjust even if it is the 91 octane.

Is that your CZ?
or you have it off?

Concerning I would say.... hope it is like woman just having one of those each month :D

My CZ has been turned off the last two flashes have gone past it :D , THE CAR SEEMS TO BE RUNNING FINE EXECTING A SLIGHT ENGINE VIBRATION

You are right the RX8 can be like a woman in that time of the month

I am taking it in leaving it overnight let Mazda sort out the cold rolling idle problem /which may be linked to my engine light coming on episode .

After putting the WDS ON MY CAR they established a wrong signal WAS SENT TO THE M A F meter CAUSING THE Engine TO DIE and the Dsc / Tsc must have gone off when my wheels went on to the strip on the side of the road .

After yet another reflash third in the last 3 weeks ( getting sick of these ) now my car is running sweet once again .

Resett the ECU AND EVERYTHING IS FINE so far :D

They do that just because your safety is not covered by Work Cover that is all. His job will be on the line if you have even tripped and twisted an ankle in his work shop.

Hope you see their point of view.

I check the manual, P 101 P102 or P103 are all MAF related. Must be one of them
