(offers stage to REAL auto history buff...)
PERSONALLY id be rapt if they remove YELLOW , heck it makes my car rare .
IMOH I believe that mazda may be thinking off removing yellow on the standard rx8 because they want to use it as a trophy colour in the mazdaspeed supercharged version off the rx8.
Every magazine i have bought recently features YELLOW as the trophy colour , on mazaraties s , ferraries , lamborghinis .
So my little YELLOW rx8 is in good company .
Kev dont worry you can always get your car re sprayed to the best most sought after colour YELLOW.

Urrgghh!!! the though of it!
I'd eat the spray gun, compressor and all, before before I'd let that happen :D
Why does L&L have to SHOUT when he says yellow? I guess its high visibility, though. I saw a moron the other day, he'd painted his old Land Rover in camouflage. It came out of a dip in the road, and against some trees I could hardly see it. Gave me a hell of a fright. That's one of the reasons I chose a visble colour. OK, doesn't have quite the visibility factor of yellow, but it was next in the Mazda chart, and I'm not a lair....
We had thought about choice of colour quite a bit, and we took particular care observing the effect of car colours on visibility in rain, at twilight etc., and yellow, white, orange and red (last) stood out the most. All dark colours and silver blend into the road.
So give L&L some credit, even though it is somewhat vivid.

L&L,
I'm with you! My RX-8 is Yellow and I believe it really shows off the curvacious body line of this car!:D
Kev,
My previous 2 HSV Clubsports were both Red and I honestly think that every man (and his dog) has owned a red car, but how many are bold enough to own Yellow?????

Joe how would you compare your hsv clubsports to your new toy??
Michael
No where near the grunt of the 5.7L LS1, but overall a more refined complete driving package is how I would best describe the RX-8 in comparison. I have always had V8's and I am still in total shock to have bought a Rotary.
Maybe I am getting old (heaven forbid!) at nearly 40, it is the refinement in a performance vehicle that I like best now over the pure sheer GRUNT factor!
But, having said all this if a quad cam, 32 valve V8 engine that redlines at say, 8000 rpm was to ever find it's way under the bonnet of a HSV, (who knows, I may live long enough to see this ever happen?) I think I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation.........
To sum it up I think I still have mixed emotions probably not due to the car I now own, but from the one that I gave away (yes the shocking resale value practically meant that I did give it away!).

Thanks for your honest reply , life actually begins at 40 , heck i turn 50 in december , and i only feel as old as the women i feel .ha ha ha .
One of the reasons i have never owned any hsv or commodores is they are lousy when you try and sell them second hand , hopefully the rx8 will hold its value not as common as clubsports .
THANKS
MICHAEL

OK, I'll confess.
It's been twenty five years since I owned a yellow car...
My first yellow car (and my first car) was a mini S.
My third card (and last yellow car) was a Torana SLR (LX).
There are a few yellow things in the house I suppose, but I'm going to get up and paint them red tomorrow.
Anyway - who ever heard of having a good time by going out and painting the town yellow? Hmmm?
...your witness.

its funny you know. reading posts, wise and well worded posts at that.
The reason I say this is the fact that i'm around or even under half the age of most of you's and because we have common ground we can communicate on the same level (or there abouts)
