rx8 sunroof

Got the sunroof/moonroof the other day. I was very satisfied however now i'm not so sure cause when the glass is up like a ramp yoiu can hear rattling noise, as if the glass or a component is loose. Will get the webasto to have a look at it after the new year.
Spent $1300 on the product and expect it to not rattle so soon.
The sunroof is the oem product for the rx8.
There is also sun fade on the edging.

When i got mine i had a noise like that, apparently its something inside the rails that is catching, when i got it fixed they just unclip evereything and soak it with some lube. No probs since then.
They said the earlier model of the sunroof has that fault, all the latter ones souldnt.
Did you get one that pops up and slides back like on a series 6, or the internal sunroof?

If you are into sunrooves then yes
If you like your car to look even sharper than it is i would say yes
If you are willing to part with $1300 than yes
If you want to expel the hot air out of the car quickly than yes
If you want a semi convertable feel than yes

If you do not agree with any of the above than no

Head room is the same as if you didn't have one

$1300's not too shabby.
I'm guessing it was done at a aftermarket place using Mazda parts?

yes the genuine sunroof for Australian rx8 as i am lead to believe is a webasto Hollandia 300. Now if you were to get one through Mazda it would cost you $1610 where as if you go direct as usual it will cost $1300-$1400 with a 3 year warranty

i don't think it does but than again i am only 163cm tall. to me it's just like having no sunroof at all.
They do put in a new liner in but that is about it. so if you add another layer of roof liner that is the roof height of the car.

It is totally different from the Japanese version and I am 100% sure it is not Mazda product.

Mazda US and Mazda JDM have sunroof with operating button at the map light/ sunglass holder unit.

Does not seem to lower the roof much.... nice mod

Apparently the model i have is the newer model sunroof as it opens wider than the one where the dial are where the sunglass holder is.
I am still looking into it but i have to wait till the installer gets back from the new year break which is next week.
There is olny one company that is the official installer for rx8 and that is webasto.

Thanks for the comment taka i loke the mod too

It looks good as the buttons look better than the others. The dails on the sunglasses/map light unit look cheap IMO

Is the top lid the original metal or it is glass that looks like your car's body colour?

I am still roofness coz I already touching the roof with my helmet on :o. No sunroof to me

The top lid is actually tinted glass that is dark so it looks like the roof of the car. Another reason why i like black cars.
All buttons are one touch butons for ease of use.

From the 3rd pic. What is the material around the roof of the car. Where the cuts are made? Is it Rubber, plastic? Is it suppose to be that colour? I thought it should be a little darker than that.

Not talking about around the glass but the actual sunroof borders.

After i looked on their websites i found out that they are only 10 mins away from my home. Ill go have a talk to them soon :D

CHOPPY the the border has fayded from the extreme heat i would suggest some sort of uv protection coating of some sort. but it is now gone. For it to look like that i think it is the reflection of the 30 degree sun i don't know.

The installation centre will be opened on the 10th of Jan as he is now on holidays
