RX8 at damaged auction

I don't know if it would suit anybody on this forum however I have found an RX-8 going to auction soon.
Unfortunately it is very burnt out and is a statutory write off which means it can never be re registered.
Could be good for spares!

Regards Daz

Rebirthing here we come....

On a side note, the guy who's buying my 8 wrote off his last one after crashing at (claimed) 180km/h... love to see the remains of that one.

Very interesting indeed.

Forgot to update the forum

Had a call at 2am a week ago saying my car had been found damaged by fire. I went to look at it in the holding yard (hoping to get my cd's, sunnies etc back), what i saw brought tears to my eyes. At least there was closure.

The headlights looked okay as did a couple of the wheels, the rear end was still in okay shape.

The thing that looked out of place to me was that one corner of the bonnet is at 90 degrees.. would fire warp it like that?

Looks to me like the engine is missing. The front has been off, the tyre gap is large, the xenon washers are gone.....what else was taken?

Hey CMac,
After having a look at the remains, was there any indication of how they managed to just drive it away from under your nose?
Did you take you keys with you to see if they still fit in the ignition?
Or if you know how they did it and dont want others to use the same method, can you offer some clues as to how to secure against the same thing happening.
Cheers
Scotty

CMac: Just underscoring Scotty's question. It' d be instructive to know how the thieves managed to start your car

Burnt out RX8

Im wondering if this car has any connection to TonyM's old car that was sold at Auction after the F3 crash....same Colour. Perhpas this one was used as parts to get Tony's back on the road....illegally.
Darren, what do you think ?

It was mine!!. I have a few close ups i took with the digi i'll try to post..

To answer some Q's
The drivers side lock hadn't been tampered with, the passenger side there was no door handle it had burned away.
There was no ignition to be able to check, no steering wheel, no seats (only the metal frame), no cup holders no dash... only a new ash interior
I couldn't open the bonnet or even see far enough into the engine bay to see what was in there it was warped to much.

In summary i nor the police or insurance are sure how they got it started.

I rang the Auctioneer today, the car sold for between $1000 and $1200.
Surley the rims, tyres and brakes are worth more than that ?
Good luck to them.
