RX-8 price cut

Uh oh, looks like our car with leather pack just depreciated by about $3000.

Yeah, was in last Sat's Sydney Morning Herald, too. But it was always going to happen, given the 5% tariff cut that kicks in Jan 1. Street prices for leather should be around $61K now, $55k for pov

Which was what I paid for mine with ~2K of extra's on board 3 weeks ago. Mazda have had price support for the reduction for some time.

Credit to Mazda for passing on the full 5% and not trying to short change the customers.

The base model is currently $36k over in Japan
The same car here in Oz is $54.5k (just less features & power)

Mazda Australia are so generous. Instead of the previous 58% increase over the same car in Japan, its now a mere 50% increase.

It is called high Australian dollars.....

It is now 80yen/AUD. When I got my car, it was just under 70yen/AUD.

Base Type S in Japan does not include leather, but this option is only about 20000 yen if I remember correctly. I will find out the exact price in Yen for our car... just hang on.

Base price of a Type S RRP is 2,898,000 Yen
Add option - Clear glass (= Rain X glass), air bag and leather = 225,750yen

above options + sunroof = 318,150 yen

Anyway current leather pack is 3,123,750 yen (or 39,167.37 AUD from www.xe.com)

For starters they get the 184kW ECU. They also get the Sat Nav option & sunroof option (on the above mentioned cloth version) I can't be bothered pulling out the Jap spec + Aussie spec sales brochures right now (To tired after work) to compare exact details but be assurred, the Jap-spec cars always get more than the export version. Those that know the Japanese market will know this fact already.

They also get the 4-port engine in 5-speed manual + 16" wheels at $31k but its the "Type-S" thats the equal to our cars. ($38k)

Taka is correct too. At release around mid 03, the $1 = Y70 approximately. With the Aussie $1 increasing 15% since then you can be assured that Mazda will enjoy the added profitering rather than pass on the benifits to the end user.

Tell that to my local petrol station too.

Now the cruel oil price is 43 cents rather than 55 cents in early November. Peak petrol in Melbourne is 108 cents. Now will we see the same price drop ie. = 84 cents. I think NOT
