Rotor Master Turbo

Oh darn. I had forgotten about Rotor Master out of Australia . Their webpage is still under construction, so there is limited information and access to it.

What is the intake manifold like? Does the kit use the stock manifold?

What about the exhaust manifold? What kind of material is it made of?

Does the turbocharger utilize an integral wastegate, or is the turbo a free-float device?

What are the overall dimensions of a Garrett T28? Is there an available turbine and compressor map for the T28?

From what I saw of the photo's, the intake manifold is stock from the "MAF back", and retains the stock airbox, albeit modified.

It had a custom exhaust manifold. Made out of some form of metal

No wastegate from memory, but had a blow-off valve plumbed back into the airbox.

How about looking on the Garret site for the specs?

I have the new Garrett catalog. I believe the T28 is out of commission, replaced by the GT28R and the GT28RS. There is one good thing about this supposed turbo kit - the intake manifold remains, thus the S-DAIS is pretty much untouched. Is the Rotor Master kit for low boost applications? I would assume it to be a 7 psi kit.

Also, Speed Force Racing out of the United States has a new turbo kit that utilizes a T4 turbocharger. Here is the link to the thread, and the webpage

The SFR kit also a ball-bearing option for an extra $600. From this kit, I believe there is an issue with the exhaust manifold. From observation, the exhaust manifold is of a log-type. Not much of an improvement from the stock exhaust manifold. I am concerned whether the exhaust pulses will build up on the turbine side of the header when the boost is turned up. I think this manifold will suffice under its advertised 7 psi of boost; it is made of 321 stainless steel. This kit also keeps the stock intake manifold. I suppose it can survive under low-boost operation. Suprisingly, it also uses a TSI fuel management system. Perhaps it is the same one on Rotor Master's kit?

Thanks for the links. The Rotormaster kit, IFAIK, is 6PSI "mid-range" but then drops to 4PSI up top. They talked about not needing to rev past 7,000. The kit looks a lot more stealth that the speed force one. To open the hood you wouldn't pick it very easily. The turbo itself is mounted just behind the headers, way down near the foot-well\trans tunnel.

What is the issue with not revving it past 7000 rpm? Compressor surge?

Since it makes good boost down at 2,500 RPM, then you would would be inclined to think it is running out of puff up the top end. But I don't know, only speculating.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean compressor surge. I believe at around 6000 rpm, the compressor will reach the choke limit.
