Respray the car - Do Mazda parts come pre-sprayed?
Hey guys, it seems like i'm going to get a lot of panels replaced after my hail attack.
The front bonnet, the roof, both doors, the trunk and one of the quarter panels. Basically, most of the car will need to be re-fitted as removing the dents would not be cost effective.
Do the parts that the repairer orders from Mazda come pre-sprayed?
I ask because my friend had his car keyed and re-sprayed the entire car through insurance. Haven't asked him how he did it but I assume insurance paid for the part that needed to be re-sprayed and he pitched in the rest.
Following that logic, since i am having so many chassis parts replaced, if the parts do not come pre-sprayed then it would be great if i could ask the repairer to re-spray the parts a different colour and i would pitch in the extra needed to re-spray the parts that weren't hit by hail like the front bar and rear bar and other small areas.
Will this work?

I think the 2 x strips running along the roof come pre-painted. Thats as much as I know.
You must be in Blacktown, Hills area.
Is your car beyond the "Dent buster" scene...........??

There is this ROTORHEAD guy near Bankstown airport that does show quality paint jobs for RX Mazda's (Better known as GAS-250) He has owned some pretty serious RX's such as a 20B powered Ford Cortina. A 20B powered Mazda 1300 wagon plus a 20B powered Eunos Cosmo. Yup, he loves the torque of a 3-rotor engine
I'm letting him take a look at mine this week.
He painted my Eunos Cosmo. As you can see from below it looks pretty damned good
Goes for anyone wanting an enthusiastic Rotorhead to take care of their pride & joy. Andrew Khoury has an excellent reputation

As an former Mazda Parts manager here is the history...
In the late 60's early 70's most steel panels were sprayed a darkish red.
Some were also painted a dull grey.
The late 70's panels were in semi gloss black, as they are today.
Your panels usually come boxed in standard cardboard with a Mazda part number sticker.
Just some advice here, IF you are REALLY fussy make sure that all your new panels are "ding" free. MMC Japan do a pretty good job, but freighting and human handling things happen and you can not see through cardboard.
They mark very easy...as we know Mazda's are make out of coke cans.

When your car will get repaired.. it is red and they claim our red is 'hard to match', they may respray more then required in order to get it to look similar to the new panels. Insurance is aware of this.. I had accident few yrs ago and damaged my front bumper, Just car was aware when they inspected my car that the whole front including bonnet and guards may need to be reprayed also. and they did end up all being resprayed.

I'm going to take my car down to the recommended repairer this week and get them to quote me on the job and make sure that they take into account the fact that i don't want mis-matching panels.
With the amount of panels that needs to be replaced i will insist they re-spray the whole car incl. the bumper which doesn't need replacing.
If that is the case and they agree to this, I will ask the repairer if it is ok if he re-sprays it a different colour. (I'm aware however that a FULL re-spray of the interior panels, engine bay etc may be a lot of work so if i get a colour totally different to VR, it may look funny? + be impossible to sell later on)
But...I would love to have a non-standard colour on my 8!

With Justcar you should get the option to get a quote from a repairer of ur choice also. So you end up with 2 quotes, 1 from their repairer and one from ur own then Justcar should inspect ur car and then they'l pick which quote. usually the lessor 1.
