Replica MS body kit
Fellow forumers (new word!)
talking to body kit specialist about replica MS gear... it's been done in the US, they could be keen to do some here in Aus if there's some interest.
Bear in mind the original stuff costs over 10 grand (or more) just for front section, skirts, rear difuser and spoiler.
And if you don't know what I mean by MS then PM me :P
What I need to know is if anyone else is interested? They'll only do it if they think it's worth their while... and no indication on price yet, but would be interested in knowing what people would be willing to pay. Again, PM if you're keen.

good work mate! can you pls tell who will be making the replicas? are they in canberra or sydney or other places.
i was told by a realiable source that it will be ok, as japs dont have the copyright on their kits outside japan!
MS is still one of my favourite body kits for the 8, but now i might just get off my lazy **** to make a custom kit....... it will take a while though.......

i'd be definatly interested. I need to see value however. As the MS bumper along costing $1500 or there abouts surely doesnt appeal to me.
it it was say $750 front, $500 skirts, $700 rear etc.. i'd say there would be a big market.
I'd buy replica from the US with the great exchange rate, but shipping is a killer.

I don't have any more details as yet, but I will post as soon as I do. KAS, I'd suspect it will be more than what you've put there, to get it just right, they plan to import an original and take moulds from it so it'll be perfect, but as I said, the original is more than 10k, so it may depend on how many people are keen. Will post more when I speak to them today.
Meanwhile, anyone wondering what it looks like... this is it.

I think Chuck from rotaryextreme.com have them in the US. I will be interested together with KAS as we are both in Melbourne.
The cost that KAS cost will be preshipping and pre tax. I will be more. Beware there are 2 types of material for the front bumper and I don't want fibreglass (easy to crack) and the wing should be carbon fibre. Anyhow, very interested

Guys, it will be fibreglass... the replicas in the US are also fibreglass... if you want injection moulded stuff, then you'll have to pay big $$$. This is more about getting the stuff cheaper than the original... you want to talk about less than 10 kits replicated off the original with injection moulded stuff, you might as well buy the original as it'll be cheaper.

i dare say more than 10 will be sold. Not just now, even in years to come it will still be selling. He must look at the product he's going to produce for both today and tomorrow.

from rotart extreme for MS gear;
MS front bumper 650.00 USD = 846.883 AUD
MS Site skirts = 550.00 USD = 716.634 AUD
MS rear bumper 550 USD = 716.6 AUD
Any they're parts IMO are damn expensive. You wouldnt buy a t.v with 400-500% markup.
For that money i'd expect them painted and fitted.

Injection moulding is the only way to go.

if its not as cheap as that *up 2 posts*, trussville mazda (i think? spelling) has them for sale in the U.S for $690US genuine mazdaspd side skirts painted! thats only $887 AUD! Who'd spend any more on replica crap if the prices keep that way or less in the U.S ?
So many kits are already out that if mazdaspeed wants to stay in the marklet, they'll have to be compeditave. The melbourne mazdaspeed suplier shut down nearly 7 years ago, anyone wanna start?

why would you want to get bodykit off dealership painted? especially from the states? how can you make sure that the colour match will be spot on? there will always be minor colour differences (either too dark/too bright) on same colour cars from same dealership!
fibreglass bodykits is cheaper to buy and easier to repair (compared to injection moulded). good fibreglass bodykits are always dearer and better quality than some dodgy ones, thats why sometime you get cracks & stress cracks at the edges/corners!

all the cars are painted in Japan. doesnt matter if its black silver yellow red, its the same paint code. nobody guarentees any paint matching/mixing to be spot on.

Bodykit is painted by Mazda Japan.
When you order it you sepcify your paint code.
Like I also said before.
I'd do a group buy through NZ Mazda.
Which mean you pay less than ozzie plus cheap frieght.
P.S. I will be in Aussie on Monday :D
Mazda6 MPS Mule *Cough*

Well I am very interested for the genuine MS kit. I am also interested in the ING's kit if anyone know where to get them.
The only challenge when you get them is:
What will happen to the fog lights - I know there are sockets for it for extra cost and ... the xenon washers?

That is not bad. How much to ship to Australia you reckon Kas.
I don't mind front and side or just front alone.
Perheps we can do it together? Remeber to ask for the socket for the fog light as well! Thanks heaps
