Renew/react
Thought I'd see if I can drum up a bit of interest in these two rotary based clubs.
The Rotary Enthusiasts of New South Wales (RENEW) and the Australian Capital Territory (REACT) are always looking for new members and I think a lot of RX8 owners who want to get more out of their car would benefit by joining.
Both clubs run regular track days, which are properly organised and supported by timing equipment, instructors, etc. They also have some social events like cruises, dinners, etc.
There is a good diverse mix of rotaries represented and some of the modifications are well worth checking out.
I've found the members to be welcoming and friendly, so don't be put off just because your car is stock and you haven't grown up with worn out rotors for toys.
You will have fun at their events in a safe environment - they're not just a bunch of hoons.
They provide a ready made way to further your car activities beyond talking about it on the forum, so if you think you might be interested, check out their websites:
http://www.renew.asn.au/
http://www.react.org.au/forum/index.php
Personally, I think this is the way to go for NSW and ACT owners, who don't have the facility of OzRenesis in their neck of the woods. If enough RX8 owners join up, they wil remain vibrant and active clubs, which cater to what we like doing. Without them, rotary based track days in NSW will probably disappear.

Good idea Dave. You have to be a member of a CAMS club for a 2S Licence,so one of these is ideal.
I don't have a rotary,but I'm a member of RENEW 'cause they're a good bunch of blokes and run a good event.
Like Dave says,if we don't support these clubs they'll disappear...
Cheers

Well so far we're just hearing from the converted.
That's great but what about the rest of you?
Do you just want to abuse your credit card on mods, show off at the odd cruise and crap on in here or do you want to attend track days and have some real fun?
Not much point fitting gee whiz JDM yo! diamond encrusted suspension components and gold plated carbon fibre enriched exhaust systems if you're just going to drive it on the street.

indeed,
totally agree with you dave, i`m beginning to feel like one of those 4wd owners who never go 4wd`ing, i gotta take advantage and get out onto the track
i`d be keen to hang out with a bunch of folks who "get it"
it would be a shame if the hard work people do getting the events going were to go unappreciated and unenjoyed

Hi everyone.
My name is Nick and I'm a rotary-aholic.
Im a committee member with RENEW, and would like to extend our thanks to Revolver with his kind words about us. Its all true I swear.
What we do has pretty much been explained already, so feel free to ask any questions you have, or have a look at our website http://www.renew.asn.au (which will be getting updated very soon)
Anyway, thanks in advance, hope to chat/meet some of you soon.

NICK....
PS: Will consider swaping my '83 HB 929 coupe with an RX8.... any takers??
