Rear seat postion
Rear seat postion
Hi,
I was in the back of a RX-8 for about 30min the other day. It is quite comfortable and roomy.
The only problem was that it tended to induce a feeling of motion sickness. This was probably caused by the fact that you couldn't see much from the back seat. The side window is quite high when you're seated and looking straight ahead you only see the back of the front seat. Being lower in the car than the front seating postion means you don't get a good view of where you are going.
Anyone else had the pleasure of being a back seat passenger?

My wife has a New Beetle Turbo and the back seats feel a more comfortable place than the RX-8's back seats. However I'm only around 173cm tall and I would imagine anyone taller than me would have trouble finding a comfortable spot in the back of a beetle. The rear window slopes down sharply.
maybe it was just me (or that burning plastic new car smell from the fresh air vents).

hi guys
i definitely felt queezy after a 30 minute ride in the back. front is much better.
i found that i kept moving my field of vision from the side window to the front opposite side. this motion contributed to the slight motion sickness.
i wounldn't like to be in the back during a fast run through windy roads. only the driver and front passenger would enjoy it. the back passengers can't even enjoy the views.
i had our 3 year old in the back for 50-60km and he wasn't happy near the end of the journey. it may be that he was also hungry and bored.
just my thoughts.
