Rare Canberra RX-8 sightings

Hi all,

I rarely see a single RX-8 in Canberra but in the last 24 hours i've seen 4 of them. Where are they coming from? Last night in O'Conner i saw 2 Titaniums parked within 50m of each other, this morning i saw a Winning Blue on the way to work and just then going to lunch i saw a Red one in dickson. I think all but 1 of the Titaniums had ACT rego plates, I myself am a Canberran but i have NSW plates currently because i found out the hard way that Canberra Mazda dealers suck if you're young.

Just wanted to know if any of the cars i saw are from this forum?

Last time I was in Canberra I ended up being followed out of town by 4 of them!

Right boys.

Seriously, there are a number of Canberra people active on the site. The two Tims are probably the most prolific - 1 red, 1 blue. Might have seen them. Haven't seen Sqz for a while and Pepe is off overseas and has had to sell his black.

G'day Calvin02

I am a Canberran owner of a Titanium Grey 8. Like you I went interstate for my car. Take it from me that Canberra Dealers (any make) suck, fullstop, whether you are young or old. My car now has ACT rego and it wasn't one of the ones you spotted last night.

Cheers

That Red one wasn't me...but then today I have seen a Sunlight Silver (with wing) -- we waved. And another Red with red & white plates in Kingston

Hi generis,

You couldn't be more right about Canberra dealers although Canberra Lexus in Phillip are quite good :-) I bought my 8 from Nojooc (paul) in sydney from John Newell Mazda, very professional. Paul is a real good guy. This one idiot from Braddon car mart had this black one so i wanted to test drive it and he said that if i test drove it i'd have to put a deposit on it, what a loser. He even said to me that the oil light came on but he didn't know why and that i would probably know since i'm in IT. Is it just me or does me being in IT have nothing to do with the oil light, i'm just guessing that the light came on because the oil pressure was low maybe

where did you buy yours from?

I don't think i've seen you yet Timbo, the only other RX-8 i've ever seen is a sunlight silver that is around calwell area, it's usually a mature lady who drives it..

Well, I've always been looked after by Slaven Mazda...but then I guess as we've had 8 Mazdas from them over the last 20 years, so I bloody well should be!

Hi Calvin

Went as far as Port Macquarie to get the one I wanted. Had an overnight test drive of the Red one at Woden Mazda. Had been given a flogging well before I got to it :D Saved best part of $5,000 by going interstate.

Hi all

I bought my last five mazdas interstate, three from Vic. Second hand, so you go where they are.

I'm now a Titanium 8 Canberrian, in Belconne last night so wasn't me either. I have a four digit number plate these days. (nice and small on the front)

I've also seen the Sunlight Silver in the Calwell, tried getting a wave out of her to no avail. You'd think she'd wave after the third time, even if it's to say "yes it's you again" . I live in the area also.

As far as Dealerships go I don't expect much(from what i've generally heard), and so far been pleasently surprised.

Steve

I often see a Titanium (I think) -8 with the Mazda bodykit at the law office on the lake in Belco.

I saw a few around on the weekend, a Tit Grey in the Woden area and a yellow over near Glenlock Interchange. And I think there's a Sun Silver in Parli house, but haven't found the owner yet.

Calvin, where did you see the Winning Blue this morning?

Steve,
Are you heading up to Wakefield for the Nats? Or the RENEW track day in Sept?
(yes everyone, I know this is off topic but Steve obviously reads this thread)

Hey Guys

Can't commit at the moment so have just been reading quietly. Worst case I'll be there for part of the day as a spectator grumbling I'm not on the track

Hi Tim, I saw the winning blue along the monaro heading away from the south, nice guy mid 30's i'm guessing and he had what looked to be his wife in the car.. Not sure if they waved but they were smiling

Could have been Brett, he lives down Tuggers somewhere. How was his missus looking, is she alright?

If anybody sees a Velocity Red in the outer reaches of Belconnen, that will probably be me. I'll be smiling (how can you help it when your other car is a Ford) and I'm good at waving too. :p :p :p :p :p

The problem there is that as reds are so common, they all tend to look the same to me. :p

A Poker Run, that could be fun if we get a few 8s to turn up. Not a bad idea.
