Quite warm, good for coffee though

Hey guys

Im new to the forum and new to my RX8.
I have done just over 1000ks and Im noticing when I give it a little bit, heat builds up around the area of the cup holder.

This ranges from warm to actually quite hot.

Is this normal?

Or could it indicate a problem?

Welcome StratoMike

Don't worry- it's quite normal. The whole transmission tunnel heats up. You will also notice it on your left leg if you have a habit of leaning it against the tunnel.

Usually not a good idea to leave things in the centre bin that might get heat affected - e.g. mobile phone.

Have fun with your new toy.

Welcome to the forum Mike.

Yes it does keep your coffee warm during winter.

A strange observation: Since I have my second/additional oil cooler on the RHS. I have less heat through the cup holder. It may be my imagination but my key (which I leave in the cup holder regularly) is not as hot as before.

Welcome New Forum Members!!

Hope you are enjoying your new motor vehicle.... or will do soon! :P

As for that bloody cup holder... Whats it worth adding some additional heat sheilds?!

My keys are on the verge of becoming liquid metal from being so damn hot!! I've got 'LOCKWOOD' burnt into my palm almost!! As for my mobile.... talk about making 'hot' phone calls!!

I put my keys in the sunglass holder, since my sunnies wont fit in there.

My sunnies won't fit in there either. I put my mobile up there. I warn you though. The first time it goes off it scares the f*#k out of you.

Speaking of the little things - I noticed a rattle in or near the drivers side door yesterday (and no, it wasn't my keys). Didn't notice it today but I had the CD player on for a change. Anybody else notice a rattle near there? If so, any diagnosis made?

Yeah, checked all those, thanks.

I noticed the other day that the plastic surround on the electric seat controls had kind of come apart a bit along the seam of the moulding. I popped it back together again no problems but maybe something's come loose. Will investigate further if I notice it again.
