Push button starter

Just been going over some old car magazines. In the March 2002 issue of Motor magazine (pg 16) there is a little blurb on how like the S2000 there will be a button to fire up the car, shaped like a rotor.
How nice that would have been.

by the way, has anyone actually installed the start button yet? I just purchased one (waiting for delivery), even though the car won't be delivered for a few weeks and was worried it will be difficult to install.

AMG check out the NZ dealer or direct from Japan like Japanparts.com About $200

You will lose your coin compartment on the right and when you turn the key... the start button lights up!!!

Maestro says Mazda (NZ?) told him the loom on our cars is not compatible.

I reckon that is a load of baloney (what they told him, not what he said!).

19,600 Yen from japan parts. I would love one as well. But my investements are towards performance at the moment

Cheers,
Hymee.

We had no joy on that.

And I was not very impressed as what I was told from Japanparts / XXXXX was that it would be fine on all RX-8's that are RHD.

I'll wait to see if you guys can do it then I will ressurect it from this end

Please you can give me some instructions :D To make it simple for us sheep ******** !!!

Also I think we have 2 in stock here in NZ AMG which you can have for $400 NZD + Freight.

No Backs though - hehehehe :P

Also I'm coming over to aussie at the end of this Month.

Sydney then a place called Orange up by Bathurst.

Be Good to catch up if anyone is in the area to see a 'Real' car since I'm driving a 7 Seater bus over there -

Firstly it not my car its a customer of mine from this Forum.

The instruction are in Japanese so if you guys can make it work then you can help me to get my customers one to works if he still wants it.

I'm pretty sure it does work though as the customers button itself did work it just had no illumination ?????

Saying that though it wouldn't be hard to get illumination to the button which was my arguement from day one of the dilemma

Its just a pity it happend to my number 1 customer

Bit of a sore point for me but hey what can you do when you get a big smack on the hand from above

Hi Maestro, I am working on it, I wish I was able to get it started though, not even that after all plugged in. Will be going to DMRH tonight and let you know the outcome.

BTW did you have to modify the wiring harness to get it to work? or was it working straight away? (start I mean not illumination)

Cheers,
Hymee.

You wouldn't be breaching copyright, just linking to someone else who may be :p

Just got the button installed...VERY VERY HAPPY, however still some improvement needed. Steve, thanks for the translation, just received it now. I think you're on the right track with the voltage meter bit. David (DMRH) installed it for me, bypassed the whole wiring loom. He was excellent and if everyone in the rotary community was like him, it would be great.

A few improvements (the way it is wired) includes illumination to stay on longer to start...David has a fix for this but needs parts, and of course Jaycar is not open at 12pm.

Steve, I will look at your translation as we still have the possibility to install the original wiring harness if we can work out how to do it.

Will remove the PDF on my website for the Japanese instructions. Don't want to breach any copyright.

Thanks
