Project Mac8

Hey Gang,

I've started to install a Macmini in the 8. I have the top middle section of the dash in the shop getting a 7" touchscreen moulded into it. It will have the black piano finish to it. The Macmini is replacing the cd player. With any luck the cd slot of the Macmini will line up with the slot of the stereo face.

Im just waiting on the shipment of the Macmini before i install it in the 8. I have put a little red off/on button right next to the DSC button, looks very factory.
I have installed an auxMod replacing the tape deck. I will have full control of volume on the stearing wheel.
I downloaded a lot of Frontrow media centre software to try out once its finished. Ill try and post some picks of the progress.

Ive been away for a long time, but now im back. (overseas)

Episode 7 of heroes in the background playing.

Auxmod installed where the tape deck is meant to go.

Front of deck, hopefully the cd slot will line with the Macs.

Where the Macmini will go once I receive it.

The top section where the 7"touchscreen is going to be moulded to.

Just a picture of the centre console.

The little on/off switch for powering up the Macmini.

Everything, but the moulding of the touchscreen I'll be doing myself. Why pay someone when you can do it yourself, i say. Ill be running my whole iTunes collection including videos (all 13 episodes of Heroes)
I'll also be running Mini Miglia (eyeTV) to watch HD television. Its all plug and play at the moment.

I would have some pics, but it is in the shop. Hopefully I should be able to pick it up this week some time. I got the screen on ebay real cheap $140.00. If i like the whole install ill go out and splurge on a Xenarc.
The screen i have is the exact same one that they sell in Jay car, but for $400.00 cheaper.

She looks right at home in there

She arrived today.

The cd slots dont line up, but not to worry. The Mac Mini's cd slot is about 7mm to high. I might have to pull it out of its shell to see if I can get them to line up.

The guy who is fabricating the screen on the dash bit has informed me that there is a crack on the side of the fabrication. Looks like its going to be delayed for another couple of weeks.
