here is a thought....
since there is going to be the biggest GTG for the aussie rx-8 owners in October, so i thought it'd be nice to refer/call fellow 8 owners by his/her real names.

Some people may prefer not to have their real names (even in part) published on a public forum. (Not me - you can find mine out easily). It would be good if we had a private forum (maybe on rx8club.com.au).

You can call me Al

It's all your fault xatnep... How are we supposed to say that after six beers? I suppose I shouldn't complain... it'd be worse if you used a Hasselblad :D .

Good idea but learning them all will be hard - as nerdy as it sounds name tags might help!! :o

<ducks>

Speaking of identifying people at the Nats, any word on whether we decided to get personalised plates and/or a sun strip across the top of our windscreens (I prefer the latter - probably watched too much touring car racing in the 70s)?

The other advantage of the windscreen idea is that we can keep them on for the whole weekend - plates can only be used on the track.

And when the first invalidated warranty comes along because Mazda read something on the forum about a member whose identity was obvious or derived by adding up lots of snippets of information.... what then? I've heard of manufacturers turning up to track days to collect VINs and invalidate warranties. It's unlikely, but why provide any more information than necessary? I've heard that MNAO have staff dedicated to reading online forums, who knows what Mazda Australia is doing?

Michael, Mazda could easily work out your identity and invalidate your engine warranty based on your car pics and mug shots next to the car and your posts about the CZ. Hymee's in a similar boat. You guys might be comfortable with that, but some people may not.

It's generally considered courteous to check with a member before revealing any identifying information such as removing number plates from pictures, unless you have owner's permission to post that. I was reminding people of that. At least Ezzy took the time to check if people had personally posted their own name before posting a summary list.

Okay, okay - it is a nerdy idea! Forget it. :o

But I still reckon we get the vinyl strips on our windscreens with our forum nicknames on them. Makes identifying cars on the track really easy and renders captions for the photo album redundant.
