OT - The Happy Thread

Wow I've had some fun driving my 8 this weekend.

The driveline vibration at idle was taking the gloss off it a little but since having the engine mounts replaced last Monday it's back to the smooth, beautiful thing it was before.

Cleaned her up nice on Saturday and have been driving all over for various reasons - windows down just listening to that glorious exhaust note and delaying almost every gear change.

Out to dinner last night - love the Ti grey at night when you've got a good shine up. Received plenty of looks while cruising the Manly beachfront looking for a park - was almost gonna do another lap for the hell of it but 'er indoors told me that wasn't gonna happen.

Love the new rubber - feels so much grippier and both ride and noise levels have improved.

Had quite a few local twisties to myself for some strange reason and have just been grinning like a loon.

Yep - this is the happy thread.

Sorry to hear that JDM. However, I get the feeling you will be very happy with it once it's done - sounds like some great mods you've got going on there.

Sorry Matt, I'm hopeless with photos. Put it this way - I don't own a stand alone camera and have no idea how the camera in my mobile works.

There's a shot from the last cruise I attended which gives you an idea but unfortunately it's too big to attach. I posted directions to it in another thread somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.

probably make a trip back to sydney during easter, if not def. mother's day weekend.... i reckon i'd spend more time in the 8 than with mum.....

kall has offered me to drive her car a few times, but i just dont feel comfortable atm.... may take up that offer when i get really desperate ;-p

my company will organise to have my car brought down from sydney if i have my contract extended....... i'd much prefer melbourne's roads....... sydney road's such a SHOCKER!

I am doing something on the interior of my 8 and a bit on the sound system.. hehe I love good music when I am driving my 8 man and plus I am fitting Odula carbon fibre bonnet and Re Amemiya intake to make my car go as well the show bit hehe and hopefully everything will looks good in the end

Always a big call to drive someone else's car so I don't blame you for the caution.

And you're right about the roads! Melbourne is much better in that regard.

Good to have visitation rights huh?

Yeah, I read elsewhere what you're up to - look forward to seeing it in the metal when you're done.

BUMP!

Knocked off work a couple of hours early today. Wife has taken the kids to visit her mother. Won't be back 'til tomorrow night.

So what else to do but go for a blat. Bugger saving petrol.

Had an amazing drive along McCarrs Creek Road just on dusk. Had it to myself from the turn off at MV road almost until Pittwater Rd. Yeehah. (any time you get an undisturbed drive in Sydney is cause for small celebration ).

For those who don't know it, McCarrs is a great twistie road - many corners signposted between 25 and 45 . A bit bumpy in parts but great fun in a car like the 8 and is my preferred route up to Palmy.

Nice cruise back down Pittwater and now I'm trying to decide which of the 5 major takeway food groups I'll indulge in and which blokey action DVD gets slotted in the machine.

Happy days!

(sad I know ).

A mini-cruise maybe. It's only about 20kms long. I did the round trip from Allambie Heights in under an hour.

Still, if we linked it up with some other good roads on the north side it could be a plan. Unfortunately, it's usually busier on a weekend. At its best on a weeknight.

Would suit a more spontaneous gathering, as Mikey suggests.

Mate, I thought to call you, I really did but I thought since I knocked off early you'd still be at work. Only thought later that maybe you haven't started the new job yet.

Never mind - I always get in trouble when I drive in company anyways.

Although we could have settled which car was the evil twin. I know a Cottage Point BMW owner who has an opinion on it anyways.

Would be great if we had some regional Sydney SMS groups (e.g. north, south, east, west). That way you could see if anyone in your general area was up for a blat.

Too hard to make it Sydney-wide because it takes too long for everyone to get together (although Waldo is usually keen to travel the length and breadth of the Cumberland Basin if it means a cruise somewhere).

What do you think guys? Is it worth setting up some groups like this?
