Official Spin on version 2 RX8
Steering Wheel
While I don't like the steering wheel it does hark back to the style of the original rx2 rx3 etc style (Yes I know about the mx5 that it has been pinched from) but it may help to explain this upgrade??? style
OK, so the press release for the new version is on the Mazda Australia website. I spoke to my rep at Eurocars Mazda today and she checked with MA. They told her that the new version (not the 40th Annniversary release) will be available June/July in Australia.
I'm still a little sceptical, but I've been promised details, so I'll keep you all posted.
If that's correct, then I'm going to give it a really serious look - my '03 model is 5 years old in August and the lease is up, so I'm ready to upgrade!

Uh-huh.
There would be very few new current models left at this stage.....very few. The last shipload came in months ago. BTW, most dealers will take delivery of their 40th Anniversary cars in a week to ten days. $55K plus onroads.

You make a very good point old man! I kinda like the style of the new steering wheel, but IMHO prefer the layout of the series 1 version.
Have you seen this article: http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/Ar...ID=47226&vf=12
I like this new steering wheel. It is curently used in the Cx-7, CX-9 and Miata. I have a 2007 Retractable Hardtop Miata and the steering wheel feel good in the hand and has a bit of a vintage sports car look. I also love the new Blue Glow gauges, very cool!
Yeah, its in the cx7 but no the cx9 (9 has new mazda 6 wheel)
I have a cx7 too and actually like the steering wheel feel more than the one in the 8, its thinner and feels smaller!? (belive it or not), just depends on your thickness preferance i guess.
