Does it make sense if I tell you that back in 2003, I changed my 6 disc CD changer to an MP3 player and sold my stock unit to Omicorn in the US (very old member here). He can use it without problem.

Hope that is what you are expecting to hear.

you can either buy the MP3 player version and swap it for the 6 disc changer. or you could buy an ipod integration kit.

already have a XCarLink unit plugged into the back of standard unit but it doesnt work 100% of the time, sometimes needs to re-cache, sometimes errors and jams, sometimes just doesnt want to load. i thought it was just a problem with the unit so i got it replaced at no cost but this 2nd unit does the same thing.
so would like to upgrade to mp3 cd player from standard.
should i just take it to a mazda dealer or is there somewhere in brisbane i can get it down not thru mazda, or purchase thru online somewhere ?

Why not just go with a aftermarket stereo? just my opinion. After putting my stereo the sound was like 100times better lol.

Bose in RX-8 is better than most stock units, including my BMW May be I should pull that out from my 8 and put into my 1?

I love the bose sound in a MX5(2008 model). I think the original Bose in my 04' sounded horrible - no bass lol.
