My choice or Dave's choice?

Me - I like the standard wheels and tyres.. If I had a spare $10k I would consider a supercharger... I suggest that the level of spend satisfaction of a supercharger would be much higher than pretty wheels and extra low profile tyres... Of course, I am ignoring the insurance premium impact of a supercharger..

I lean toward the Hymee, because I know that both Mark and Ross have very high standards and stand by their all products. Being Brisbane based is also a big plus.

Rotormaster on the other hand has a great name in the business, many years experience with rotaries, and a great product.

My guess is that if you buy either supercharger you have made a good choice and will be very happy with your decision.

Adrian, agreed the $10K spend is a better return than some wheels but I'm not planning to buy magnesium TE37's (anymore ). I'm also not in the market for 19's or 20's because they're too heavy, compromise the excellent ride and hurt acceleration.

I'm just looking for some decent lightweight 18x8's. Can even fit my OEM tyres because they've still got plenty of wear so I think I can get out of it for under $4K and then look at getting some PS2's down the track.

As to S/C kits - still not convinced they're fully sorted and am happy to sit back for a year while others play test pilot and decide (if I'm keeping the 8) whether I want to invest that kinda money or simply keep saving and buy a 2nd hand M3 (i.e. the current shape ).

basically about the weight, just stick to 1 piece, and preferably not chrome. most brands have a sport/ performance section of rims, which are generally lightweight, but u cant expect em to be much lighter then volks or enkeis cuz of the money difference.. so ur lookin at about 8-9kg.
Agreed 8.5 width is an option - I'm more saying that I don't want to go bigger in diameter or hurt turn-in too much by going unnecessarily wide (e.g. 9 or 9.5). I also wish to avoid the staggered thing unless I get a lot more power through S/C.

Also agreed I can't expect much more than 8kgs (or high 7's at best) unless I'm prepared to spend silly money but the goal is to personalise the car and maybe get something a bit lighter than OEM (and as stated previously, not go heavier just for looks).

Just make sure you get one without the SMG box and that has had the diff checked..

My father has had nothing but trouble with his (2 diffs) and said he would never buy another one....he had the model before the current one in a manual and loved it to death...

From driving both i must agree that his older one was more raw (more fun) and reliable...but the engine was not quite as good...

I prefer to drive the 8 ...except for the torque of course which is quite addictive in the bimmer!

I had an M3 for a week to try out ( previous model) with the SMG box, it was crap. I thought the newer model was far improved. With regards to rolls royce sequential box's.....can't beat the 360 of F430 modena....these are slick!

Apparently the Newest model SMG is greatly improved... My neighbour just got an M5 with the SMG after having the M3 with SMG and reckons they are much improved ...chalk and cheese...so he says!

I like the design but it only comes with 19" Let me search again.

You know Japan bring a new set of design for 2006. So the model we know so well. Like the TE37 and CE28N will be on the 2nd hand market soon!

Just wanted to run some prices past you guys to see what you think (especially Taka and Stuart because they both bought Enkei's last year).

For 18x8 Enkei BXM2's and RP03's I have been quoted $2,100 and $2,500 respectively.

Price includes GST, removing my OEM tyres from the OEM wheels and fitting them to the new wheels, balance and any valves, nuts and caps required.

Assuming I get good feedback on that pricing and I go ahead with it, I'll be looking to offload my OEM wheels.

They have some tiny scuff marks on the outside rim that have been touched up with silver paint so as to be difficult to see but are otherwise undamaged. Price $1,400 ONO. Anybody who's interested should PM me.
