New Sydney Addition

Hi all,

I just thought I'd join the forum, get on and let you know that I am a Sydney Boy, awaiting my rx-8 in 4 weeks time, in the mean time I have been reading the posts, and find that the guys have a good presence and their topics are great, we need debate, criticisim and support for the rx8 and what we are choosing to do with it.

Id like it if any of you had any initial views on the setup of it all..

So hopefully I can add myself to the aussie crowd, and be well known with some of the Sydney boys....by the way roughly how many sydney boys or girls are there on this forum?

Cheers,

Daryl

Welcome Daryl....

Introduce myself... I am Taka from Melbourne. I have a lot of s^&% post as usual.

I have the Black 8 for months now and very happy with it. Except that creaking noise from the seat that I am sure is the factory FAT ALARM!

The car setup is great. After being on the track and talking to people, most of us are leaning to suspension and bar upgrade. We are all happy with the rotary power.

People to notice in the forum (now I am in trouble): Hymee = god. Lock and Load = brothel king. AMG = dental gaint. Gomez = law enforcer (no racing allowed) and of course me = loud mouth. Also Timbo, sco, Kas, and many many more.

RIC SHAW appears from time to time and his is of excellent value. In fact is regional forum is so active that it is like a family!

Once again welcome!

Taka

Hey....dunno about law enforcement, I don't wanna be lumped in with the Vic coppers at the moment!

I've nothing against racing, it's the street racing that gets my goat.....

Regards, Gomez.

Hi Taka,

You should get your fart alarm fixed if it goes off to often - seriously though it is a known fault in the driver's seat with a simple fix under warranty, I got mine fixed and no more creak even for fart :-)

Cheers,

Tony

Thanks all for the welcome, you boys are quick....what u all got internet connections in your offices, so u just stay on this all day ??...nah its good knowing, so many guys come on, and post replies within a cuppla hours, none of this wait till next tuesday stuff...

I thought I'd make a new thread, but while we are here just a question, then all my other queries will defntly go to new posts....but I just wanted to ask you guys,

are chrome wheels (say similar to the orange/red rx8 "number plate : "evolv" ) that was at sydney's autosalon, on the street, are those wheels really detering to the vehicles performance.....I mean the chrome wheels we get here are not really the best, my understanding is that a chrome wheel bought from Tempe or Ozzys or wherever locally, is a steel wheel, simply dipped in chrome, whereas in Japan the chrome wheel, is actually a polished alloy, and that is a true chrome wheel, and isnt as heavy (how much heavier).. no point getting less kW at the wheels right??

I mean basically i dont want to be a rocket scientist, but if in a turning wheel,

F=ma (force = mass * acceleration)
with mass in kgs and accelration in m/s/s....

then a heavier wheel (even if not noticeable) will put alot more force on the drivetrain or turning thingee which makes the car go....i just need to know, as I am considering 20" chromes (a look thing more than anything)

I mean this may be a stupid qustion (Above), but I dont know the answer, and would like some insight....Thanks for the welcome, and any sydney boys out there....let me know, u havent made yourselves known...seems like interstate boys may have a better devotion ...hehe

IMHO, highly polished alloy is better than chrome plated. If you nick chrome plated that is it. You need to re-plate them.

Hi Daz,
Welcome to the site.
Even if you buy a 20" wheel that weighs the same as a 17" wheel. More effort will be needed to turn the 20" wheel.

On average, the jap wheels do seem to have a better quality than the brands offered here.

Get dish :D
