new red one in town!~

hi guys,
I purchased and signed the contract for a new Red RX-8 manual Leatherpack today~ (along with some acc, like sideskirt, fender strakes, window tint.. maybe get some more but yeah adding up to the total cost a bit -_-)
so proud to be amongst u folks and call me self RX-8 owner now =D hehehe.

the dealer I got it from was the Hornsby Mazda and their customer service was great except that I had to wait quite a bit coz they were busy busy busy with sales of 3, 6, RX-8 etc..

test drove both auto and man.. both great drive and was quite surprised even auto wasn't too bad as I've been told..
but manual definitely had more power for sure =)
been driving tiptronic so need to horn my manual skills ASAP xD

anyway, thought I would say hello to all you fellas as a new RX-8 driver~ hope u guys can help a newbie out to greatness heheh.
thanx ^_^

Did you deal with Hendrik at Hornsby Mazda? I found him most helpful - however not his finance manageress, so ended up at Tom Kerr.

my salesperson was guy called Chris, very helpful.
the finance person was Debbie, I was going to external finance but their rate seemed very competitive compared to Tom Kerr because Tom Kerr was using St George Bank I believe..
but yeah I also found Tom Kerr guys to be very helpful as well =)

dealers I found that had aweful customer service were John Newell of Waterloo, who actually refused me test drive unless I was willing to sign that day. he wasn't really intersted to sell me the car and said he would be just wasting time giving me a test drive if I am not buying. that dealer was a joke. and I had already booked to have test drive week before... Euro car Artamon is another dealer I wouldn't really recommend.. **** price, **** service.

Congrats playa .... it only gets better!

As for sales folk at dealerships, they are a precious lot. I had to 'trick' my dealer into letting me have a test drive by suggesting I'd made a booking the previous day ... geez ... go figure

I picked up red RX-8 from the dealership this morning, which happens to be my birthday. best gift I got for myself hahahah.
wow, the car is awesome~ it's so smooth although my manual skill is not upto standard of RX-8's capability =)
love everything about the car. incidentally the service guys told me to rev the engine as much as possible to run it in better and make the sparks work better.
guess it's not like the normal cars where u shouldn't push it too hard until about 1000km? heheh

Birthday wishes playa, and exquisite choice in gift to self: if we don't look after ourselves no-one else is gunna.

I'm 8000 km now and can feel the engine loosening up progressively. No matter what we are told, it goes against all my instinct and nature to take a brand new bit of machinery to red- line for the first few thou. Vary the revs most definitely, but don't drive it like ya stole it (an expression I have read in so many of the American posts) ... yet. Very soon she will love having the bejesus thrashed out of her.

By the way, what gender are our 8's?
jack.

hahah. thanx heaps Jax.
i did rev upto 4000-5000 rpm range but wouldn't go redline just yet =) heheh. the guy told me it was important to vary the rev like you say rather than keeping it idling at one speed.

btw, I reckon RX-8 has to be a female in terms of gender coz it's too beautiful to be a male, haha~

Good to hear you've just joined the frat.
I've just joined myself.

Picked up my Winning Blue Leather Pack 2 weeks ago and loving it ( guzzles the fuel a fair bit though!)

John Newell sucks. Had the same attitude with me too.

wow, nice choice nojooc. I would have loved Blue one to except the two tone leather interior had me sold on black or red and ultimately a red one =)
yeah, they had pretty bad attitude John Newell.
i would rather pay little more for good service especially if u have to come back for problems etc. and they weren't too helpful..
niway, I just downloaded the picture I took this morning from the dealer =D
will post one now~

p.s. just had a night driving session towards Narabeen. wow, this thing grips in the wet, and just keep goes and goes hahah

Sorry dude. I'm new to all this as well, so I don't know how to post pictures and stuff yet.

Good to hear you're loving the grip in the wet....
...not much fun with too much grip though.

I'll go as far as saying that the handling on the 8 is better than my old ride (DC5 Type R).

However not quite as much fun as my old S14 200SX, power oversteer slides are quite hard to maintain in the 8....not enough rear wheel power do you think?

There are 2 ways to post pics.

One is when you use the "post reply" button (it takes you to a different page) where you can click "Add attachement".

The other way is if you have some web-hosting, and you upload your image there, and put the url to the image inside [IMG] tags.

We love pics!

Cheers,
Hymee.

Very Nice!

I love strakes. If I had those skirts that would have been knocked of by know

Good to see you got the attach to work!

Now lets talk about protection Hehehe

Cheers,
Hymee.

yup. thanx for help hymee.
i see that you are a fellow red driver =D heheh. good choice.
in my opinion the strakes were a must cosmetic although they are rather expensive, the look justifies it in the end I guess T_T
now the side skirts makes it look more down to earth and aggressive IMHO.

took me a week (could've been less) to have it delivered =)
initially, I wanted two tone interior and black.. but black was going to be a month wait maybe (or even more)
they had a red one with two tone interior and I took it.
looking back now, I think I made good choice of going red instead of black. it just looks so good in the sunlight =) and black is a pain coz u need to wash it often.

Thanks for your help.

I'm planning buying a new RX-8 and I may go to Hornsby Mazda.
You were so lucky that you can pick up your car less than two weeks. Most of the people told me delivery time is 6 - 8 weeks.

There are two different colour for the new car which is winning blue or red. It is a hard decision for it. If I choosing red and black colour for interior. I'm worrying the two tone colour are getting dirty easily especially wearing blue or black jeans.

yeah but why get plain when u can get two tone for same money.. plus it just looks so much better with two tone interior in matching red colour. heck, I test drove one Winning blue with red/black two tone at Hornsby (which was specially ordered then cancelled) and even that looked awesome.. (I thought red/black wouldn't match on blue..) but really, it's upto each to make their own decision I guess. I might have gone blue if they came in same two tone interior and that's what they had..
if you are getting one from Hornsby, ask for Christian Fisher and mention Sunghoon (that's me =) He was a great sales guy I dealt with compared to other dealers.
good luck shopping =)
