Has anyone seen the new hyundai HDC-8 concept car that is a cross between a supra and a rx-8 with the -8 at the end i think that is disgracfull of hyundai they take bits and pieces of every good looking car and make a mockery of it and have the nerve to day they spent 40mil designing the car. their only cutting two cars in half and joining them together.

i dunno what the fuss is all about.. we always tend to see some similarity between different car makers but that does not mean they cut and paste them directly. especially between concept cars you tend to see similarities.
I don't hear ppl bashing Honda Accord which is a full blown production car..
don't tell me that Honda Accord copied Mazda 6 because they look similar.
dunno whether it's really constructive to bash a carmaker in whether out of spite or grudge. let alone a concept car??

i just think this forum is really about RX-8 and this kind of thread is quite irrelevant? we shoulda be praising how good a car RX-8 is and not go trashing how **** other cars are?

If someone wants to "bash", let 'em "bash"! Once they've expressed their opinion, agree or disagree - but I wouldn't try to silence them.

Personally, I think it would have done the world an aesthetic favour if the Hyundai designers had all been smothered at birth!

 

i think it's easy to make accusation but without certain proofs and facts that's all it really is. If it was the case that hyundai or whichever company went and just direct cut mazda's design up and used it on their car, mazda and them would be fighting in the court right now =)

point I am trying to make is that there is no point in saying they should be banned or killed or whatever because of some similarities in design etc. even the controversial and most obvious design of RX-8 is not entirely its own. the "freestyle" doors were already done before on other cars. that doesn't mean mazda designer were just doing copy and paste of other's hard work..
it sort of evolved and got refined into better design which is actually a good thing..

 

Look out! It's the Grammar Gestapo and the Spelling SS! I hope it'll be like that Diahatsu Copen and the astra convertible, something for housewives but not for car buffs like ourselves. *rubs knuckles on chest*
