New Audi TT.... WOW

Had a close look at the New Audi TT , they had the car on display here on the Goldcoast before it heads to the Sydney motor show.

So far whitout driving it i was very impressed by the looks and the finish WOW if it drives as good as it looks it would be awesome apparently the 2 litre turbo version at $70,000 is a better drive than the 3.2 Quattoporte all wheel drive at $90.000.( check out article in latest MOTOR MAG

Something to consider as i am tired of the RX8 and have decided not to put another $ 15-20,000 to turbo /supercharge it .

Not interested in waiting any longer while Mazda tries to get its act together

So i am also on the lookout for a different ride .

On further research the TT - S is tipped to run a high pressure turbo four with 300bhp -plus , the TT - RS WITH A BLOWN V6 WITH 375BHP AND THERES ALSO A DIESEL TT

I like it.

Much better than the old model. It was a bit too rounded - looked a little like a mushroom.

In real life its fine the Quality of build is out of this world , compared to most cars , the front is similar to the upcoming Audi R8 .

Check it out at the Motor show .

I reckon they've done a very decent job of updating an icon. But the best news is that after years of making beautifully tailored but mostly dull to drive, uninvolving cars Audi ( or rather, VW ) have finally come up with a decent chassis. Whether it's worth a $25k premium over the "donor" Golf GTI , depends on how much you value looks and finish over mechanical substance I guess

The GF has an 03 TT 225 and I think it is a great looking car. We both don't like the grill on the new model but the rest of it looks good. I like the drive when the turbo kicks in but I like the quick rev of my 8. When I start hers and blip the throttle, it just feels wheezy but it is fun to drive.

If I had the money I would have my 8, a TT, a 350Z, and a Stang. Jus dreamin.

Another note, except for the cup holders, the TT has a much nicer interior than the 8, but you also pay for it. I had a Passat before, and really liked the fit and finish compared to the 8 and have to say the Audis and VWs do a good job on the inside. Don't ask me why I am doing it, but I vacumn the GF's TT interior once and awhile and the carpet is also of much better quality.

The GF likes the 8 better for looks.

I've got these on my radar as a possible replacement down the track too.

Michael, did you get a chance to sit in it? If so, did you try the rear seats? Does it appear bigger than the previous model?

Dave

I was all over it like a dog on heat , internally its taller wider bigger , much better finish then previous model , the access to the rear is great very easy to use my 9 year old sat in the back no problems , i think they have allowed for 180cm height at rear .

At 5"10'' i could seat in the rear for a short halve hour ride , if i had to as theres no center consul like the RX8 THE REAR FEELS MORE OPEN

The workmanship in the car is outstanding both internally and externally , i even got under the car and one can see the standard of finish there .

Germans , love them or hate them but they know how to Engineer a car WITH CLASS

As well as Timbo in other posts have pointed this fact out about the 2 ltr Audi engine in the TT and VW

Lock to add some amunition to your Audi TT dreams.......

heres some interesting fact for you.. the GOLF/AUDI 2.0T Litre engine (the 147kw Turbo) is VERY VERY VERY tuneable

there are two tuning companies in VIC (that sells tuning parts from Europe) that has an ECU tune only which will boost the power output to 180kw.

A further Exhaust mod and air intake mod will get u 190kw. Now heres the tasty numbers.... 400Nm torque.

Now all of these go fast bits come from reputable power house tuners in europe.

So definately food for thought. i too like the Audi TT.

this company just tuned a Golf GTi good for 190kw/400Nm just by merely reprogramming the ECU and doing exhaust and air intake mods.

the 2.0T engine has a lot of capacity for tuning i hear

Spoke to Alex from Harding performance pty ltd in Brisbane 188KW AND 411 NM Can be had by merely changing the codes in the existing ECU Cost $2,200.

What a change in price compared to getting extra power from the RX8

correct... thats the beauty of having a FI setup to start with..... and stage 2 & 3 upgrade will probably follow soon after too.
APR and GIAC will have ecu re-flash and/or chip available soon after the release. other VAG tuning companyies will have something too...

Hmmm...
Looks like a TT sub-group of the RX8 Club is worth forming! What would it be called - 82TT?
