Do you want to pay out on them for having the worse car in history? D:D

Anyone else read the Motor mag review of them a year or so ago? Funniest article in that mag, ever!

Ooooh, according to that article, avoid at all costs... not sure when it was, but sure worth getting a hold of it, they canned it... it was one of the worse cars they've ever reviewed. PM me if you want more details from the article, might be able to figure out a way to get you a copy.

In the article, they compared it to an Audi TT, so it was always going to do badly, but I think there was a comment in there to the effect that "I've driven cars that have scuttle shake before, but never driven one that's all shake"

Why not Peugeot 206cc? Especially you can get enough performance out of it more than the Copen...

Get the one with 100kw or the better one...

Cheers

Phil,

Whatever you do don't buy a Copen under any circumstances, otherwise I will cease to acknowledge you everytime I see you in Chi'town.

Seriously, they are the world's biggest piece of crap.

I had one traded in which was 6 months old, the couple that owned it absolutely hated it and were a lot happier with the pov pack Commodore they bought.

Needless to say, I took it for a drive and mate, I wouldn't even wish my worst enemy drive one of these.

Better off spending the same money buying a Mazda 3 or Corolla Sportivo or basically anything except the Copen (or any Daihatsu for that matter).

i'd rather catch public transport than driving a copen.... :p or... maybe not, after how my sis told me she spent 1.5hrs coming back home last night (usually a 25mins train ride)

phil, how about a honda jazz? you know, the little hondas are un-breakable.... what are you looking to spend? hope you are still keeping the 8 :D

I think it's for his missus..... in that case, a Jazz VTiS with it's ricey bodykit should suit Phil fine (oops, I meant to say his missus, fine).

Have a look at the review that Top Gear did in the UK, i saw it, not bad.

It is what it is.

None of the other suggestions are roadsters, I've had several and they are fun! Don't buy the Puegoet! Expensive, slow, crap resale and they have very dodgy electrics. Also had one, don't believe me read a few owners websites. The UK Ricers tart up Saxo's not 206's. (and since they are both french maybe Le Ricer's.)

Go drive one, listen to it rattle and feel the body flex while the car loses all traction while trying to negotiate a corner too quickly and you will understand why I despise it.

A Toyota Echo handles better and feels more stable then the Copen...... that's really saying something.

1. It doesn't have a roof, noise, some flex goes with the territory. (well for that kind of money, anyway)
2. After driving an 8, your benchmark is a little "adjusted".
3. Echo - shopping trolley with sardine lid, style 0. Copen, shopping trolley with no boot but has style. Trade off.
4. Why would you try and negotiate a corner "too quickly" in anything. Drive to the cars limit.

Seems I've hit a raw nerve a little too close to your heart.
C'mon, you secretly own one don't you mikeyr?

Seriously, working in the motor industry gives me the opportunity to drive a lot of different cars of varying power, configuration and handling characteristics.

I would rather buy myself a second hand MX5 if I was looking for a roadster.

Believe what you will, but until you actually "experience" the Copen you wouldn't understand what a bucket of s*** it really is.

It's cheap and affordable..... and that's all it's got going for it.
If it was such a great car, why are Daihatsu giving them away at the moment?

Simple difference between the Honda et al is NONE OF THEM ARE ROADSTERS!!!!!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

No I don;t own one, yes I'd buy an MX5 as well and drop a rotor in it, I saw 2 on the weekend, that is if I didn't already have an MGA. (which i rebuilt for my wife who never drove it over 60 (MPH, i did manage 100)

But it's for his wife, who will drive it for fun and not give a toss about high speed handling.

It's cute! There seems to be as many I Love Copen Sites as RX's, misguided you might say but fact. Google it.

By the way I'm gonna have this same debate with my bro next week who is a diehard BMW man, and I've got a what...... I'll be laying in extra beer for that one!

Only thing missing from this site somehow, a virtual bar, this is a classic pub discussion.

Love a good healthy chat, can we find something better than a Diahatsu though!
