Take it from me. After spending a wekeend in this thing, you forget about the cost & just end up wanting that 74% power gain........ :D

I wonder if they would sell and ship just the OTHER stuff to me, if I could source the SC here stateside?

the SC rotarmaster uses is fairly unique as far as I've investigated in that you don't need to run oil to the SC and the ability to mount it as rotarmaster has. all the other centrifugal SC's I've seen need oil to be pumped to the gears. I also haven't see any mention of being able to choose direction of drive which would leave the SC being mounted inlet to the rear and a 180 deg bend in the intake.

Good point! Yes, by all accounts, people are more than willing to pay around $AU72K for a 300Kw RX-8, new. It'd be excellent value in the market for such cars, at that price, too However, I guess the price concerns above indicate some people weren't in that market (ie, price point) when they bought their 8's. Or have they not thought about it this way. Do people really think they can get another 120Kw for, say, $AU5K

I would be happy with 220-240kw. For me 300kw is too much for me. I would like a bit more power but I don't want lots more. At present I feel the handling over comes the power, I would just like to even that out more.

5-7psi from a twin screw is all I'll need to keep me happy and it should with luck leave me with the money for the upgraded clucth, some better cooling and almost a set of decent coilovers.

Paying 12-13K for this I am happy with but not just for extra power!

I would have paid $72,000 though for a brand new factory standard 300kw RX8 though, but that's because it would come with full factory warranty and resale value!

I'm with Livey on this one. I accept you're not gonna get 120 extra aftermarket kws for $5k as Timbo says but there's a big diff between spending $12k on an aftermarket mod that isn't factory backed/sorted and introduces insurance/warranty problems, etc and buying a new car for an extra $12k with that kind of power standard.

There are obviously people out there who would buy it - precisely why this car is screaming out for an SP model, a la the MX5.

Not to hijack a thread, but what are considered "... decent coilovers..." and what should they be costing for the Rx8? Tien Flex? HKS? JIC's Something else?

Does anyone know if the $11,900 is installed or just supplied.

I am tempted but that price tag blows me away.

The 300KW is oh so appealing.

You can pick up Tien Flex in Honk Kong for approx $2000 AUS. I am now though leaning more towards the Koni shocks. For my skill level they are half the price (includes install) but offer almost all the handling benefits. I don't really need more than what they offer!

Leaves me a lot more spare money to go towards FI later (see back on topic) :D

As Dave explains the car, it sounds exactly like my recent experience in the Pettit Supercharged 8 ... which I plan on getting when an 8 is sitting in my garage too

And for the US guys, that kit makes a lot more sense in price, at a much more reasonable ~$5K - www.pettitracing.com

Sorry to post this in your thread Dave, just wanted to reaffirm your thoughts that supercharging on an 8 kicks ***!

Good to hear from you Gibbo.

The RotorMaster site says this:

"Priced at AUS $11,900 in boxed form (ready to install)"

The way I read that, installation is extra.

Well it's good to be back, too much travelling and work, not enough spare time.

If he could break in under the $10,000 installed then I might just bite at that. But $11,900 + install, that is steep.

So what have I missed, other than what looked like a great cruise on the weekend. (Hold those replies, I should just get off my ***, sorry I should just sit on my *** and read the past 3 months worth of posts. )

I'll tell Joe to correct that, as its obviously wrong.

The price is $11,900 drive in - drive out

BOOSTD-7 Nice to read your a fan of the Supercharged 13B-MSP. Impressed with the cheaper price. Might check out the web site & see if they are using a Pro-charger centrifugal unit.

Am finished the techo story for ZOOM magazine here & was impressed with the properties of centrifugal blower over the twin screw or Roots design. RotorMaster made the right choice be using one for sure.

The Pettit is using an Opcon Autorotor twin screw. I wonder where I have seen one of those before?

I read the same articles (linked in another thread), and it validated my choice

But I prefer not to hijack this thread about centrifugals.

Cheers,
Hymee.

I really don't want to hijack this thread, as it is really about the centrifugal supercharger. I am using a twin-screw, the brand being an "Autorotor". I'll post more comments in the supercharger info thread you started the other day https://www.rx8club.com/australia-new-zealand-forum-37/supercharger-iliterate-time-fortunate-72759/.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Looks like they moved the battery in this pic. Is this one newer than the ones you posted?

This is an older pic.

The ones on the first page are the current shots.

Basically, the high powered Odessy battery has no problems starting the car when hot or cold. They are an expensive battery but worth the money in cases such as this. Relocation was preffered as the clearences where too tight leaving it in the original location.

Has no affect on performance if thats a question
