only 260 km until the fuel lights come on ...... drove to the nearest petrol station, and filled 54.5 litres into it.

i got 360km for my first tank and 345 for my 2nd tank (from what i believe as average driving) (my 3rd tank i fueled at half way, so i dunno how to measure it). so i thought my fuel economy is bad anyway, why not drive and have fun and not worry bout fuel. During this tank, i take off with 1st gear until the speed limit and set into 4th if its 60km roads, use 1st/2nd then 5th for 70km roads, and 1/2/3/ and 6th for 80km+ roads. but i'm not always at the front of the traffic lights, so i don;'t do that all the time, around 30% of the time on city roads i'd estimate. when i get to the speed limit (or 9km above the limit) i would use the most comfortable gear (for me its 60ish[4th], 70[5th], 75+[6th]) and cruise (sometimes with cruise control, sometimes without).

the fuel lights came on at 258km on the trip odo, i drove for 15km to a petrol station on my way home, 54.5 litres, ($55 with the coles 4c off voucher). i called up my dealer and they tell me thats normal? pls tell me theres something wrong or something unusuall with my 8.... (i'm still at the edge of the first 1000km)

 

You are getting 120k's a tank less than me......don't lay so many patch's........

 

sounds normal. you get much better economy when on a hiway. your 1st till 60km/h might be your down fall, as your going over the magic ~3750rpm threshhold for the next injectors and ports.
keep your revs below 4k or else it's make power burn fuel :D

sounds normal to me as 16-18L in the city... highway miles are better value when I am going around 12-14L/100km

i was initially posting 3rd tank, but my real 3rd tank was only 1/2 used when i refilled it again. so decide it's actually the 4th tank anyhow, it was a quick edit right b4 i post it. can't edit it now i think, but u know what i mean lar
